    Abstract: A development processing method comprises: exposing a silver halide light-sensitive material comprising a support having thereon at least one light-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer; and developing said exposed light-sensitive material with a developing solution, wherein at least one of said silver halide emulsion layer and other hydrophilic colloidal layers contains at least one hydrazine derivative, and wherein said developing solution is substantially free from a dihydroxybenzene compound, has a pH of from 9.0 to 10.5, and contains (1) at least one ascorbic acid derivative developing agent, (2) at least one aminophenol auxiliary developing agent and (3) a specific mercaptopyrimidine compound. The processing method provides a high-contrast image required in the field of graphic arts using a developing solution having no problem with respect to the ecosystem and working environment, without causing silver stain even at a low replenishment rate.

The sliver halide photographic light-sensitive material exhibits an ultrahigh contrast, an excellent storage stability and an excellent processing stability and is prevented from the occurrence of processing unevenness. A method for processing the silver halide photographic light-sensitive material is also disclosed.

    Abstract: A method for forming a superhigh contrast image which comprises the steps of image-exposing a silver halide photographic material having a silver halide emulsion layer provided on a support, the layer comprising silver halide grains containing 50 mol % or more of silver chloride and 1.times.10.sup.-8 to 1.times.10.sup.-6 mol of a complex of rhodium, ruthenium, rhenium, or osmium per mol of silver halide, being spectrally sensitized so as to have the maximum sensitivity in the wavelength region of 750 nm or more, and further containing a hydrazine compound; and processing with a developer which contains a developing agent of a ascorbic acid type and does not substantially contain that of a dihydroxybenzene type, the silver halide photographic material being processed with the developer which causes less harm to the environment.

    Abstract: A method of processing a photographic material having, in the backing layer, at least one mercapto pyrimidine compound of formula (I), with an automatic developing machine, where the amount of the replenisher of the developer per unit area of the material being processed is reduced. The processed materials have stable photographic properties and few silver stains. The mercapto pyrimidine has the following structure ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, a hydroxyl group, a mercapto group, a carboxyl group, a sulfo group, a phosphono group, a nitro group, a cyano group, a halogen atom, an alkoxycarbonyl group, an aryloxycarbonyl group, a carbamoyl group, a sulfamoyl group or an alkoxy group. The sum of the carbon atoms contained in R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 is from 2 to 20. R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 may be bonded to each other to form a ring structure.
