  • Patent number: 10136000
Abstract: Provided is an image-forming device that can execute operations that do not use a document-reading unit even when abnormality in a light source is detected in the initial operation at startup. The image-forming device includes a document-reading unit, and together with being able to execute image-forming operations that use the document-reading unit, is able to execute image-forming operations that do not use the document-reading unit. The image-forming device includes a light-source-abnormality-detection unit that executes a light-source-abnormality-detection operation, and when an abnormality in the light source is detected by the light-source-abnormality-detection operation that is executed at startup, stores the startup signal level that is outputted in a light-source-abnormality-storage unit as light-source-abnormality information.

  • Patent number: 10061232
Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier, an endless intermediate transfer belt, a primary transfer member, a secondary transfer member, a displacement amount detecting device, and a control unit. The displacement amount detecting device detects displacement amounts of a reference image in a main-scanning direction and a sub-scanning direction. The reference image is formed on the intermediate transfer belt. The displacement amount detecting device includes a density detecting sensor and a surface potential sensor. The density detecting sensor detects a print density of the reference image formed on the intermediate transfer belt. The surface potential sensor detects a surface potential of the reference image. The displacement amount detecting device simultaneously detects the identical reference image using the density detecting sensor and the surface potential sensor to ensure simultaneous detections of displacement amounts in the main-scanning direction and the sub-scanning direction.

  • Patent number: 9488954
Abstract: This image forming apparatus includes an image forming unit, a charging unit, an error detection unit, a determination unit, and a charge-condition changing unit. The image forming unit creates printouts. The charging unit charges for printouts created by the image forming unit. The error detection unit detects errors that occur during the creation of printouts by the image forming unit. The determination unit determines whether or not the error that occurred in the image forming unit is an error made intentionally by the user based on the detection results from the error detection unit. The charge-condition changing unit changes the charge conditions under which the charging unit makes a charge when the determination unit determines that the error is an error made intentionally by a user.

  • Patent number: 9359156
Abstract: Provided is a paper feeding apparatus that commonalizes mechanisms for detecting paper feed cassette attaching/detaching, recording paper presence/absence, and lift plate reaching rising stop position. When paper feed cassette is removed, a contact piece has first inclination, a light shielding piece has first position, and a first sensor and a second sensor are OFF. When paper feed cassette having no recording paper is inserted, contact piece has second inclination by an opening edge part; light shielding piece has second position; and a first sensor is OFF, a second sensor being ON. When recording paper is on lift plate, contact piece has third inclination by recording paper, light shielding piece having third position, and first sensor and second sensor being ON. When lift plate is raised to rising stop position, contact piece has fourth inclination, light shielding piece having fourth position, first sensor being ON and second sensor being OFF.

  • Patent number: 8934147
Abstract: A page numbering unit assigns an electronic document page number to each of image data of a plurality of pages stored in a storage unit. An image analysis unit extracts a page number described in each of the image data of the plurality of pages stored in the storage unit. The image analysis unit identifies image data that describes page numbers for searching for other pages, from among the image data of the plurality of pages stored in the storage unit. A page number comparator compares the assigned electronic document page number with the extracted page number, for each of the image data of the plurality of pages. A page number conversion unit converts the page numbers for searching into the corresponding electronic document page numbers, based on a result of comparison by the page number comparator.

  • Patent number: 7501620
Abstract: The present invention provides a laser irradiation mass spectrometer capable of analyzing components of living tissue or living cells with high accuracy. It includes a laser unit for irradiating a sample with a beam of laser light and controlling the irradiation spot of the laser beam on the sample; and a mass analyzer for performing a mass analysis of the ions generated at the irradiation spot, where the mass analyzer uses a frequency-driven ion trap and a time-of-flight mass spectrometer to carry out the mass analysis. The ion trap of this system assuredly traps ions having large mass to charge ratios, and enables the system to carry out analyses on samples of large molecules. Preferably, a digital driving method is used to drive the aforementioned frequency-driven ion trap. Also, a multi-turn time-of-flight mass spectrometer may preferably be used as the aforementioned time-of-flight mass spectrometer.
