  • Publication number: 20230203230
Abstract: Process for preparing rigid polyurethane or urethane-modified polyisocyanurate foams from polyisocyanates and polyfunctional isocyanate-reactive compounds in the presence of blowing agents wherein the polyfunctional isocyanate-reactive compounds comprise an unmodified or modified novolac polyol and a polyether polyol having a hydroxyl number of between 50 and 650 mg KOH/g obtained by reacting a polyfunctional initiator first with ethylene oxide and subsequently with propylene oxide wherein the propoxylation degree is between 0.33 and 2 mole propylene oxide per active hydrogen atom in the initiator and wherein the molar ratio of ethylene oxide to propylene oxide in said polyether polyol is at least 2.
    Type: Application

    Publication date: June 29, 2023
    Inventors: Luca Binaghi, Kristof Dedecker
  • Patent number: 11434320
Abstract: Polyisocyanurate (PIR) and/or polyurethane (PUR) comprising insulation foams having significantly improved long term insulation values are disclosed as well as a processing method to fabricate said improved insulation foams and use of the improved insulation foams for thermal insulation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 30, 2019
Date of Patent: September 6, 2022
    Assignee: HUNTSMAN INTERNATIONAL LLC

  • Patent number: 11248081
Abstract: Polyurethane/polyisocyanurate foam insulation described herein is derived from a composition that contains an organic polyisocyanate, an isocyanate reactive material containing at least about 20% by weight, based on the total weight of the composition, of an aromatic polyester polyol, a hydrocarbon blowing agent, a first catalyst selected from the group consisting of a carboxylate salt of an alkali metal, a carboxylate salt of an alkaline earth metal, a carboxylate salt of a quaternary ammonium, and combinations thereof, and a second catalyst comprising a non-reactive tertiary amine, wherein a molar ratio of the first catalyst to the second catalyst is less than about 1.25, the composition gels quickly, and the composition has an isocyanate index greater than about 175. Such an insulating foam has a ratio of thermal conductivity at 75° F. to thermal conductivity at 25° F. between about 0.98 and about 1.10.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 21, 2019
Date of Patent: February 15, 2022
