  • Patent number: 5401399
Abstract: A multi-section manifold system containing a number of replaceable filter and purification cartridges for treating the water supply of medical and dental facilities. The system operates to introduce increased concentrations of a preferred bactericide to the water immediately adjacent patient dispensing appliances. Control valving regulates and segregates flow through separate cartridges at the manifolds. A first manifold removes coarse particulates and sediment and exposes the water to an initial bactericide. A second manifold removes finer contaminants. A third concentrator manifold contains a bactericide cartridge having a percolation chamber which enhances the iodine concentration of the water in the range of 3 to 10 ppm at the patient dispensing apparatus. The percolation cartridge includes proximal and distal bactericide chambers which are, separated by an intermediate reservoir or percolation chamber.

  • Patent number: 5328609
Abstract: A manifold mounted liquid filtration system including a disposable filter cartridge having first and second radial flow filtration stages containing filtration media of uniform porosity. A first stage includes a pair of annular, concentrically mounted, fibrous sediment and cast carbonaceous filter media. A second stage includes an annular cast carbonaceous filter media. Porous stage separators sequentially direct liquid flow into cavity spaces between the sidewalls of each stage and a liquid impermeable housing where the flow is radially re-directed inward to a center outlet bore. The first stage filters suspended sediments, lead and other heavy metals. The second stage removes suspended bacteria, parasites volatile organic contaminants, herbicides, pesticides, industrial and agricultural contaminants, and the like. Various cartridge constructions having alternative O'ring sealed end caps and internal arrangements of stage separators are disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5273649
Abstract: Low volume, personal water purification systems including cartridges containing multi-valent iodine resins, granulated active carbons, and porous separation and filtration means. In one assembly, a first section of a multi-sectioned cartridge includes an inlet, a mouthpiece and a coupler. A second section includes mating coupling means and each section includes separate filtration and/or purification media. In other assemblies, cartridges of a variety of filtration/purification organizations mount within squeezable, vented housings including straws or self-sealing outlet ports. In still other assemblies, the cartridges couple to a manifold housing.

  • Patent number: 5126044
Abstract: Water treatment apparatus including an iodine resin purification bed suppported in a walled structure and mounted upstream of an active carbon filtration bed. In one disposable cartridge construction, a replacable, toroidal sediment filter surrounds the purification chamber which concentrically projects from the upstream end of a larger diameter active carbon bed. In another construction, the purification bed includes a directionally permeable, replaceable, pointed housing which insertably mounts within the carbon bed. In another construction a portable housing contains a purification bed within a surrounding carbon bed, and receives water from faucet coupling means and includes a nozzle. In still another personal construction, a purification cartridge mounts between a pressurizable collector and canteen.
