  • Publication number: 20240403104
Abstract: Live mounting a virtual machine (VM) causes the VM to run off a backup copy or snapshot previously taken of a “live” production VM. The live-mounted VM is generally intended for temporary use such as to validate the integrity and contents of the backup copy for disaster recovery validation, or to access some contents of the backup copy from the live-mounted VM without restoring all backed up files. These uses contemplate that changes occurring during live mount are not preserved after the live-mounted VM expires or is taken down. Thus, live mounting a VM is not a restore operation and usually does not involve access to every block of data in the backup copy. However, live mounting provides live VM service in the cloud sooner than waiting for all of the backup copy/snapshot to be restored.

  • Publication number: 20240406119
Abstract: Systems and methods for handling resource requests in programming of network device tables. A feature agent of a network device enters a resource request for a resource in a resource table and a resource server returns a response to the request, where the response includes a resource value and a dependency constraint encapsulating validity criteria for utilizing the resource value. When the resource value and dependency constraint are returned, the feature agent writes an entry to a software table, where the software table entry includes the resource and the corresponding dependency constraint. A hardware examines the software table entry and determines whether the dependency constraint has been satisfied. When the dependency constraint has been satisfied, the hardware agent writes an entry corresponding to the software table entry in a hardware table. The network device then processes packets according to the hardware table with the new entry.

  • Publication number: 20240402922
Abstract: A system can include a processing device operatively coupled with the one or more memory devices, to perform operations that include writing data to the one or more memory devices and performing one or more scan operations on a management unit containing the data to determine a current value of a chosen data state metric. Each scan operation can be performed using a corresponding predetermined read-time parameter value. The operations can include determining whether the current value of the chosen data state metric satisfies a criterion, and can also include, responsive to determining that the current value of the chosen data state metric satisfies the criterion, selecting a remedial operation by determining whether redundancy metadata is included in a fault tolerant data stripe on the one or more memory devices. The operations can also include performing the remedial operation with respect to the management unit.

  • Patent number: 12160373
Abstract: A first forwarding VM may execute in a first availability zone and have a first IP address. Similarly, a second forwarding VM may execute in a second availability zone and have a second IP address. The first and second IP addresses may be recorded with a cloud DNS web service of a cloud provider such that both receive requests from applications directed to a particular DNS name acting as a single endpoint. A service cluster may include a master VM node and a standby VM node. An IPtable in each forwarding VM may forward a request having a port value to a cluster port value associated with the master VM node. Upon a failure of the master VM node, the current standby VM node may be promoted to execute in master mode and the IPtables may be updated to now forward requests having the port value to a cluster port value associated with the newly promoted master VM node (which was previously the standby VM node).

  • Patent number: 12159689
Abstract: A method of corrupting contents of a memory array includes asserting a signal at a reset node to thereby cause starving of current supply to the memory array, and selecting bit lines and complementary bit lines associated with desired columns of the memory array that contain memory cells to have their contents corrupted. For each desired column, a logic state of its bit line and complementary bit line are forced to a same logic state. Each word line associated with desired rows of the memory array that contains memory cells to have their contents corrupted is simultaneously asserted, and then simultaneously deasserted to thereby place each memory cell to have its contents corrupted into a metastable state during a single clock cycle.

  • Patent number: 12158875
Abstract: In accordance with an embodiment, described herein is a system and method for heterogeneous database replication from a remote server, for example a remote database server. A capture process can be registered as a replication slave to the remote server, and configured to receive transaction event data from that server. Transaction log events associated with a modification to the database at the remote server can be processed, and output as change data, in a canonical format output, for use with one or more heterogeneous targets, for example a target database server or message queue. The process enables capture of transaction log events associated with database transactions at a remote server that may be located on a different computer or network, or within an access-restricted environment such as a cloud environment, without the need to create additional copies of its transaction logs.
