  • Publication number: 20230319657
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatuses to manage mobility in a wireless communication system. A user equipment (UE) may include a wireless communication apparatus and an application processor (AP). In some aspects, the wireless communication apparatus may monitor cells using a first criterion to detect problematic cells. For example, the first criterion may be associated with a history of ping-pong events or a history of data transmission errors. The wireless communication apparatus may select a cell for communication using a cell selection criteria that deprioritizes selection of problematic cells. In some aspects, the wireless communication apparatus may receive a list of cells from the AP or a server, the list identifying cells considered to be problematic cells. The wireless communication apparatus may adjust the first criterion to expedite detection of problematic cells.

  • Publication number: 20230269636
Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine, via a first subscription of the UE, a trigger event for a conditional handover of the UE from a source network entity to a target network entity. The UE may determine, based at least in part on the trigger event, that a target band associated with the target network entity is not compatible with a serving band associated with a second subscription of the UE. The UE may store the trigger event for the conditional handover in a buffer of the UE. The UE may perform an action related to the conditional handover based at least in part on a condition being satisfied. Numerous other aspects are described.

  • Publication number: 20230254934
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A system may support techniques for triggering user equipment (UE) assistance information (UAI) based on mobility, wake up signal (WUS) configuration, or both. In some cases, a UE may communicate with a network node (e.g., a base station) on a first channel according to a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration. The UE may determine that a speed of the UE satisfies a mobility threshold and may transmit UAI requesting one or more updated DRX configuration parameters based on the speed of the UE satisfying the mobility threshold. Additionally or alternatively, the UE may receive signaling configuring the UE to monitor for WUSs and may transmit UAI requesting one or more updated DRX configuration parameters based on the WUS configuration. The UE may receive control signaling configuring the DRX configuration with the one or more requested parameters in response to the UAI.

  • Publication number: 20230247461
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, a base station may configure a user equipment (UE) with a time to trigger (TTT) and a signal quality threshold. The UE may determine whether one or more conditions are satisfied, and if so, transmit an early measurement report or ignore a conflicting procedure that renders the measurements unavailable. In some examples, a UE may receive an indication of a minimum TTT in a configuration message with the TTT and the signal quality threshold. The UE may indicate an updated timing, to a base station, based on the minimum TTT. In some examples, the base station may determine that a UE is a multi-subscriber identification module (MSIM) UE, and may configure the duration of the TTT accordingly.

  • Publication number: 20230232495
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a base station, control signaling for communications in a wireless communications system. The control signaling may indicate a first duration for an inactivity timer. The UE may initiate the inactivity timer and a second timer based on identifying a period of inactivity. The second timer may have a second duration that is shorter than the first duration for the inactivity timer. In some examples, the second duration may be based on one or more parameters, such as a display status, a battery status, a scaling factor, the first duration, an application state, or any combination thereof. The UE may release a connection for the communications in the wireless communications system based on an expiration of the second timer, an expiration of the inactivity timer, or a combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 11706783
Abstract: The disclosure relates to methods, devices, and systems for wireless communications. A wireless communications system may support unicast and broadcast communications for different radio access technologies (RATs). To support the coexistence of different RATs, a user equipment (UE) may report, to a base station, a UE capability message containing a band combination including one or more bands for a first RAT (for example, New Radio (NR)) and one or more bands for a second RAT (for example, Long Term Evolution (LTE)) and an indication of a baseband budget for the second RAT for the band combination. In some implementations, the UE may transmit a broadcast interest indicator to the base station requesting a broadcast service. The base station may configure the UE with a carrier aggregation (CA) configuration based on the UE capabilities, such as the band combination and corresponding baseband budget for the second RAT, and the interest indicator.

  • Patent number: 11696173
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Techniques are described to enable wake-up signal (WUS) error handling at a user equipment (UE). The UE may detect an error pattern when attempting to receive a WUS from a base station based on a configuration for receiving the WUS. For example, the base station may transmit the configuration for receiving the WUS to a set of UEs including the UE. Based on detecting the error pattern, the UE may perform a mitigation operation based on determining the error pattern, such as waking up multiple cells to receive a transmission indicated by the WUS, transmitting a radio link failure indication to the base station, etc. Additionally or alternatively, the base station may transmit multiple WUSs to the UEs, such as a first WUS according to the configuration and a second WUS according to a reconfiguration.

  • Publication number: 20230180072
Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to mechanisms for enhancement in UE cell selection to prioritize cells supporting 5G New Radio (NR) in standalone mode (SA) and in non-standalone (NSA) mode. In some examples, a UE may identify a plurality of cells within an area including a location of the UE. Each cell supports at least one radio access technology (RAT) and at least one frequency.
