  • Publication number: 20110248929
Abstract: A method includes detecting a touch at a touch location on a touch-sensitive display, identifying a delay associated with the touch location, and when a force value related to the touch meets a first threshold value, providing a first tactile feedback after waiting the delay.

  • Publication number: 20110248931
Abstract: An electronic device includes a touch-sensitive display, an actuator configured to impart a force on the touch-sensitive display to provide tactile feedback, and a controller configured to detect a touch based on input from the touch-sensitive display and to initiate the tactile feedback by the actuator.

  • Publication number: 20110193791
Abstract: A touch-sensitive overlay includes a substrate, and a capacitive touch sensor arrangement comprising a first touch sensor and a second touch sensor disposed on the substrate in a region and arranged and constructed such that a coordinate of the touch is determined based on a relation of signals from at least the first and the second touch sensors, wherein the first touch sensor is electrically isolated from the second touch sensor.

  • Publication number: 20110122061
Abstract: An optical trackpad module is described herein. The module includes a light source and a trackpad that is optically coupled to the light source such that light from the light source can reach the trackpad. The trackpad is configured to receive an input object. The module also includes a sensor array that receives at least some of the light from the light source that is reflected off the input object. The sensor array is divided into sub-sections, and each sub-section corresponds to a portion of the trackpad. In addition, each sub-section detects at least translational movement of the input object on the corresponding trackpad portions to enable detection of rotational motion of the input object on the trackpad.

  • Publication number: 20110018695
Abstract: Method and apparatus for displaying a view of an application on a touch-sensitive display include detecting a touch on the touch-sensitive display. When the touch is at a first force, first feedback is provided and a first function is performed. When the touch is at a second force, second feedback is provided and a second function is performed. The first function and the second function are different. The first force and the second force are different.

  • Patent number: 7714832
Abstract: A display screen is capable of having regions having different switching speeds as well as regions that are not switched. One region having a first switching speed may be for colour mode display and the other region having a second switching speed different from the first may be for monochrome mode display. Other regions may be off and not switched. In alternative versions, three or more switched regions may be established on a display screen. For example, a monochrome region may be nested inside a colour region, in which the colour region may be nested between off regions.

  • Publication number: 20090267904
Abstract: A method of determining input at a touch-sensitive input surface of a portable electronic device includes detecting a touch event at the touch-sensitive input surface, sampling touch attributes during the touch event, determining an actual touch location and determining at least one shift in touch location based on the touch attributes sampled during the touch event, and determining an input based on the actual touch location and the direction of shift of the touch location.
