  • Publication number: 20070041608
Abstract: A watermark information embedding apparatus capable of embedding a plurality of different types of information together in a document is provided. In a pattern table 19, (1) a permanent dot pattern which is to remain after a document is copied and (2) a temporary dot pattern which is to be erased as the document is copied, are both allocated to each of symbols constituting confidential information and they are classified and managed as hyper-complex matrices. A watermark image is formed based upon anti-copy information used to determine whether the permanent dot pattern or the temporary dot pattern is to be set. Since this allows both the anti-copy information and the confidential information to be embedded together in the document, duplication of the document containing the confidential information embedded therein can be deterred.

  • Publication number: 20070030521
Abstract: In a watermarked document printing apparatus, secret information is divided, error correction encoding is performed to each divided pieces of information, and the secret information is converted into a pattern image and embedded in paper. In a watermarked document reading apparatus, after extracting signals from the pattern image on the paper, a reading error is detected by decoding the error correction code for each divided pieces of information, and the portion where the reading error exists is read again. The scanning process is performed again only to the portion where the decoding cannot be performed due to the temporal malfunction of the scanner or the like. Therefore, the pattern image can efficiently be obtained.

  • Publication number: 20060236112
Abstract: The present invention is relate to watermark information embedding apparatus and method for the same, watermark information detecting apparatus and method for the same, and method of containing watermark document. A document image generator (101) generates a document image according to document data (105). A watermark image generator (102) generates a watermark image. The watermark information (106) is denoted with dot pattern, and the dot pattern within the outline of the watermark information are of special value. A synthesizer (103) overlaps document image generated from the document image generator (101) and the watermark image generated from the watermark image generator (102) so as to generate a containing watermark document image.

  • Patent number: 6954540
Abstract: This invention provides an image transmission device and an image display device capable of preventing easily the image data from being tampered with and of confirming the originality of the image data visually. More specifically, this invention provides an image transmission device and an image display device wherein: the image display device receives the coded-image data transmitted from the image transmission device and the encrypted mark coded-image data, and decrypts the mark image by using the hash value of the decoded image; the mark image connected with the image is output; when even a part of the image is tampered with, the coded-image data of the mark image which is decrypted by using the hash value as a key become different from the coded-image data of the mark image which is not tampered with; and consequently, the mark image finally achieved enables to judge visually and easily whether the image data are tampered with or not.

  • Publication number: 20050129268
Abstract: A system for watermarking an image file selects coefficients using a selection procedure that is kept secret, and assigns the selected coefficients to coefficient pairs. The difference between the coefficients of the pairs is biased by a value that varies, preferably in a pseudo-random manner, and the biased differences are used to generate signature bits that characterize the authentic image at different locations. To detect an unauthorized alteration after the image file has been watermarked, coefficient pairs are selected using the same secret procedure that was originally used to generate the signature bits. The difference between the coefficients of the pairs is then biased and checked against the signature bits. Using a varying bias value permits a tolerance band for reducing false alarms to be used without the risk that would otherwise exist that evidence of an attack on the original image might be hidden in the tolerance band.

  • Publication number: 20050123167
Abstract: A system for watermarking an image file selects coefficients using a selection procedure that is kept secret, and assigns the selected coefficients to coefficient pairs. The difference between the coefficients of the pairs is then used to generate multi-bit raw signature values that characterize the authentic image at different locations. To detect an unauthorized alteration after the image file has been watermarked, coefficient pairs are selected using the same secret procedure that was originally used to generate the raw signature values. The difference between the coefficients of the pairs is then checked against the raw signature values derived from the original image file. The raw signature values derived from the authentic image file may be placed in the header of the file or in a separate file. Alternatively, they may be embedded in host coefficients that are selected in accordance with a procedure that is kept secret.
