  • Patent number: 7711011
Abstract: A play-out apparatus and method for switching a channel in a digital multimedia broadcasting receiver are provided which can decrease a delay occurring in a channel switching time. A demultiplexer demultiplexes a signal received from a transmitter and outputs video data. A time stamp adapter changes a time stamp for indicating a play-out time of the video data such that the video data can be immediately output from a playback buffer without a Coder-Decoder (CODEC) delay, and outputs the video data including the changed time stamp. The playback buffer buffers and outputs the video data output from the time stamp adapter according to the changed time stamp. A video decoder decodes and outputs the video data output from the playback buffer according to the changed time stamp. A display unit plays the decoded video data out.

  • Publication number: 20090049121
Abstract: A mobile terminal and a method for controlling a function of the mobile terminal using contents are disclosed. The contents are authored to include function control information related to the function of the mobile terminal desired to be controlled. The mobile terminal downloads the contents and registers the function desired to be controlled included in the contents to a service table. The application of the mobile terminal does not execute the called function as it is if the predetermined function is called, but identifies if the called function is registered in the service table. If the called function is registered, the application cancels the existing execution routine for the called function and requests the contents player of the service related to the called function. Then, the contents player controls the called function according to a method programmed in the contents.

  • Publication number: 20080192147
Abstract: An apparatus and method for generating compressed image data, and outputting decoded images using the compressed image data. A compressed image data generation unit receives and compresses image data taken from a first camera arranged to generate an additional image and inserts the compressed image data into a specified area of the compressed image data generated using a picture image received from a second camera arranged to generate an ordinary image. An image output apparatus receives the compressed image data including the compressed picture image data, determines whether the compressed picture image data exists. If the compressed picture image data are present, the apparatus decodes the image data to generate a three-dimensional stereoscopic image as output using the ordinary image and the additional image. However, if the image output apparatus is not capable of three-dimensional image generation, it only provides the ordinary image.

  • Publication number: 20080130984
Abstract: An apparatus and method for efficiently compressing three-dimensional stereoscopic images are provided. The apparatus and method include a search for Global motion between left and right images input through two image input units mounted in a mobile communication terminal. The images are arranged and a difference between the two images is computed. The images are compressed using the difference between the two images and a reference image. Accordingly, because the left and right images are similar, a computation amount can be reduced since the global motion is computed only once.

  • Publication number: 20080031515
Abstract: An apparatus and a method for generating and outputting stereoscopic images. A user can select either a barrier mode and an interlaced mode. In the barrier mode, images are generated in the barrier scheme, whereas in the interlaced mode, images are generated in the interlaced scheme. In a case where the user selects the interlaced mode, when the images are detected with the left and right camera sensors, the images are rotated by ?90 degrees and are then detected. Subsequently, stereoscopic images are generated from rotated images according to the barrier scheme, and generated images are stored along with information on a currently set image generation mode. Next, when the user desires to output the stored stereoscopic images through an interlaced output device for providing stereoscopic images in the interlaced scheme, the stored stereoscopic images are rotated by 90 degrees, and the rotated stereoscopic images are provided to the interlaced output device.

  • Publication number: 20070229697
Abstract: Provided is an apparatus and method for shooting an image of an object using a portable terminal. The apparatus includes a first camera module, a second camera module, and an effect processor. The first camera module shoots a first image of an object, and the second camera module shoots a second image of the object. The effect processor searches for a block that corresponds to the first image from the second image, checks whether the block searched for from the second image is a block belonging to a background. When the block searched for from the second image is the block belonging to the background, the effect processor blurs the block searched for from the second image. The two camera modules are mounted in the portable camera module to discriminate an object from a background of an image, so that out-of-focus shooting that allows only the object to be focused is realized.

  • Publication number: 20060285015
Abstract: Provided is a multichannel video reception apparatus of a mobile communication terminal for digital broadcasting. An RF processor receives a broadcast signal of a digital broadcast service via an antenna. A baseband processor processes the received broadcast signal in a baseband. A controller controls the RF processor and the baseband processor to receive the broadcast signal including video frames of a main channel and a sub-channel. A memory stores a program code, reference data, and updatable user data, for an operation of the controller. A video processor receives the video frames of the main channel and the sub-channel, decodes the latest key frame of the sub-channel if a key frame of the main channel occurs while decoding the video frames of the main channel, and after decoding the key frame of the sub-channel, decodes the frames of the main channel. A display divides the decoded video signal into a main-channel image and a sub-channel image and separately displays the images.
