When the network device applies one or more of the network features to the packet, the network device inserts one a particular information element of the unique information elements into the header of the packet based on the template and the one or more network features applied to the packet. The particular information element inserted into the header is resolvable to a list of the one or more network features applied to the packet at the network device.
