  • Patent number: 11170900
Abstract: The invention relates to search for cases in a database. According to the proposed method and apparatus, similarity matching is performed between an input case and a set of cases in an initial search to receive similar cases by using a given matching criterion. Then statistics on image and/or non-image-based features associated with the similar cases are calculated and presented to the user with the similar cases. In a search refinement the similar cases are refined by additional features that are determined by the user based on the statistics. The search refinement can be iterative depending on the user's need.

  • Patent number: 9792414
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and device for case-based decision support. It proposes that a case-based decision support system is trained on inputs from several radiologists in order to have a “baseline” system, and then the system provides an option to a radiologist to refine the baseline system based on his/her inputs which either refine weights of features for similarity distance computation directly or provide new similarity ground truth clusters. By enabling modifying the similarity distance computation based on user inputs, this invention adapts similarity ground truth to different users with different experience and/or different opinions.

  • Patent number: 8762303
Abstract: Methods for performing genetic algorithm-based feature selection are provided herein. In certain embodiments, the methods include steps of applying multiple data splitting patterns to a learning data set to build multiple classifiers to obtain at least one classification result; integrating the at least one classification result from the multiple classifiers to obtain an integrated accuracy result; and outputting the integrated accuracy result to a genetic algorithm as a fitness value for a candidate feature subset, in which genetic algorithm-based feature selection is performed.

  • Patent number: 8561095
Abstract: A system and method for collecting, analyzing, and using sensory reactions and involuntary or spontaneous movements by members of a television viewing (or listening) audience. While known programming is displayed on a television receiver, a plurality of sensors monitor the viewer or viewers for recognizable evidence of an emotional response that can be associated with a discrete program segment. Where positive (or negative) responses can be associated with a certain type of program content, the system monitors subsequent programs for the opportunity to notify the viewer or simply present (or avoid presenting) the program automatically.

  • Patent number: 8528019
Abstract: A method of selecting, storing and delivering desired audio/data/visual information includes the steps of determining viewing preferences of a viewer and receiving a first group of audio/data/visual signals, for example, broadcast and cable television signals or internet-based signals. Based on the first group of audio/data/visual signals, a second group of audio/data/visual signals, which is a subset of the first group of audio/data/visual signals, is identified. The second group of audio/data/visual signals is selected based on the association of EPG data for each signal with the viewing preferences of the viewer. Content data is then extracted from the second group of audio/data/visual signals and compared with the viewing preferences. The content data may include, for example, closed-captioned text, EPG data, audio information, visual information and transcript information.

  • Patent number: 8204317
Abstract: Method and device for providing a summary of a plurality of images, e.g. a video sequence. The method includes dividing the video sequence into a plurality of segments. The segments are analyzed with respect to content and a set of content descriptors are associated to the segments. Preferably, additional textual information about the segments, screenplay etc., is used to determine the content descriptors. A graph representing relations between the segments is constructed indicating relations between segments. Weights are associated to the relations so as to represent a measure of relation, e.g. a logical correlation, between segments. The weights are based on the calculated content descriptors. A relevance measure for a segment is determined based on all weights associated with relations to said segment. Finally, a summary is generated by selecting the most relevant segments.

  • Patent number: 8199991
Abstract: A method of automatically identifying the microarray chip corners and probes, even if there are no probes at the corners, in a high density and high resolution microarray scanned image having an image space, wherein the method minimizes the error distortions in the image arising in the scanning process by applying to the image a multipass corner finding algorithm comprising: (a) applying a Radon transform to an input microarray image to project the image into an angle and distance space where it is possible to find the orientation of the straight lines; (b) applying a fast Fourier transform to the projected image of (a) to find the optimal tilting angle of the projected image; (c) determining the optimal first and last local maxima for the optimal tilting angle; (d) back projecting the determined first and last local maxima to the image space to find the first approximation of the first and last column lines of the image; (e) rotating the image and repeating steps (a) through (d) to find the first approximati

  • Patent number: 8126763
Abstract: This invention relates to a method and computer system for automatic generation of trailers. More specifically it relates to a method for generating revenues from providers of content data. The method generally comprises the steps of finding product placement data in a super set of data. When these product placements have been found they are preferably matched with a user profile and segments, of the superset comprising these product placements with a positive match, are selected and merged into a subset of data. A counter may keep track of which product placement that has been chosen and how many times a product placement has been chosen and viewed. Based on the value of the counter an invoice is created.

  • Patent number: 7738778
Abstract: A system facilitates and enhances review of one or more multimedia input streams that includes some combination of video, audio and text information, generating a multimedia summary, thereby enabling a user to better browse and/or decide on viewing the multimedia input streams in their entirety. The multimedia summary is constructed automatically, based in part on system specifications, user specifications and network and device constraints. In a particular application of the invention, the input multimedia streams represent news broadcasts (e.g., television news program, video vault footage). In such a particular application, the invention can enable the user to automatically receive a summary of the news stream in accordance with previously provided user preferences and in accordance with prevailing network and user device constraints.
