  • Publication number: 20080299892
Abstract: A generally S-shaped vent is provided for a roof including a substructure having at least one ventilation hole and being covered by a plurality of tiles. The tiles form a finish layer having peaks and valleys. The vent includes a base assembly having a number of flange members and at least one venting member with a vent aperture. The flange members are coupled to the roof substructure at or about the ventilation hole. At least one cap member is coupled to the base assembly, overlaying the vent aperture and including an upslope end, a downslope end, first and second sides, and an arcuate portion extending between the first and second sides. First and second louvered portions of the first and second sides of the cap member provide a ventilating passageway through the vent. The vent substantially conforms to the peaks and valleys of the finish layer of the roof.

  • Patent number: 5595341
Abstract: A mailbox assembly and associated methods are disclosed whereby a mailbox housing and a mailbox door are assembled as a unit and the remaining auxiliary components, such as the flag bracket, the latch members, the latch clips, and a push-pin for securing a flag in the flag bracket and to the mailbox housing are unitarily molded and integrally formed on a runner member for ease in manufacturing, and in packaging with the flag and the assembled housing and door unit. The runner member may also have integrally formed and unitarily molded pins located at strategic locations for wedging a flag therebetween to resist damage such as scratching and/or bending, to the flag during shipping and handling of the mailbox assembly. The several auxiliary components with the runner member may be manufactured of a plastic material through an injection molding process. Methods for assembling the mailbox with the auxiliary components and for packaging the mailbox assembly with the flag are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 5095810
Abstract: A ridge vent for covering the opening at the peak of a roof. The ridge vent is composed of a first panel portion joined to a second panel portion to form a generally inverted V-shaped web portion which fits over the peak of the roof. The web portion has an interior surface on which a plurality of V-shaped baffles are disposed to support the vent on the roof. The baffles are disposed in an overlapping pattern to resist rain and snow from entering the building. The ridge vent also has ventilation ribs with openings therebetween the ribs extending downwardly from each side of the web portion to allow passage of air into and out of the openings. An angled flange is provided at either side of the ridge vent to deflect air upwardly and over the roof and to create negative air pressure. Alignment tabs and flaps are provided to connect contiguous vent panels together along a roof peak. Nail holes are provided for securing the vent panels to the roof.

  • Patent number: 4641571
Abstract: A turbo fan vent for use on the roof of a building and having a close-louvered low profile turbine affixed to a rotary shaft which is rotationally supported by bracing and bearing means associated with a lower concentric collar. The collar is spaced inwardly of said turbine and is vertically overlapped by the turbine. The rotary shaft carries a large fan blade assembly arranged within said collar. The collar has a diameter substantially less than the side wall of the turbine whereby to create a large passageway for effective air ventilation. The turbine is freely rotatable by wind currents to rotate the exhaust fan assembly to draw air upwardly through said collar and outwardly through the passageway. The collar is adapted to be mounted onto a complementarily shaped stack adaptor affixed to the roof of a structure and communicative interiorly thereof.
