  • Patent number: 5335946
Abstract: A cooperating combination of a metallic gland and a metallic grip ring is for both plastic pipe and metallic pipe used in fluid piping systems, where these pipes are part of assembled restrained sealed bolted joints. The grip ring, in addition to two well spaced major sized teeth, has several spaced minor sized pipe gripping circumferential teeth located between and beyond the major sized teeth. The major sized teeth extend radially inwardly farther than the minor sized teeth within the grip ring. When the installed grip ring is restraining a metallic pipe, only the major size teeth are, in part, penetrating the metallic pipe. When this installed grip ring is restraining a plastic pipe both the major size teeth and the minor size teeth are penetrating the plastic pipe. The major size teeth take a lot of concentrated force, which is created when the fasteners of the bolted joint are tightened.

  • Patent number: 4955641
Abstract: For use in underground sealed liquid distribution systems, embodiments of pipe seals are used to seal between various components used, such as pipes to manholes, pipes to reservoirs, pipes to pipes, repair couplings to pipes, couplings to corrugated pipe and between corrugated pipes, and tee connections to sewer pipes. In each embodiment of a pipe seal, a circumferential seal is initially substantially inserted in a circular receiving volume of a circular positioner. In some embodiments of these pipe seals, each circular positioner has two circular receiving volumes, each one receiving a circumferential seal.

  • Patent number: 4689883
Abstract: An apparatus for simultaneously cutting and beveling plastic pipe such as water or sewer pipe is described. This apparatus includes a rotatable cutting head on which inclined and protruding cutting edges are provided to cut and bevel the pipe. The cutting head is mounted in a housing the lower surfaces of which include two convex pipe engaging regions positioned on either side of the cutting head which are contoured to contact the pipe and maintain the cutting head in proper cutting and beveling relation to the pipe when the housing is moved laterally or angularly relative to the pipe. Concave pipe engaging regions flank the convex regions to maintain the housing in contact with the pipe. The cutting bits are tapered to aid in retaining them in position in the cutting head.
