  • Patent number: 4530534
Abstract: A connector, particularly for a suspended load, consists of a roundsling including a fibre bundle surrounded by a sleeve and at least one coupling member associated therewith, which comprises a substantially U-shaped U-bolt, into which the roundsling is in-hung, and a releasable bridge member which extends crosswise with respect to the in-hung roundsling and by means of which the shanks of the U-bolt are connected with each other. To harmonize the lifting capability of the connector and that of the roundsling and to obviate overloading of those fibres of the roundsling which are subjected to the greatest tension when the roundsling is loaded the cross section of at least that part of the circumferential area or peripheral surface of the coupling member which is engaged by the roundsling at normal load (the contact surface) has a radius r.sub.b of curvature which satisfies at least one of the conditions(1) r.sub.b .gtoreq.5+0.3 d.sub.r or(2) r.sub.b .gtoreq.5+0.05 u.sub.r,in which d.sub.

  • Patent number: 4308419
Abstract: A ball bearing swivel comprises a substantially bowl-shaped casing member having first connection means in its closed end, and a stud member having second connection means in that one of its ends which faces away from the casing member. The stud member is journalled in the bowl-shaped housing member by means of a ball or roller bearing. For eliminating the risk of accidents through one of the wires or the like to which the swivel is connected, if the other wire or the like which is connected to the swivel should get into contact with an electrical overhead line or another possibly high-tensioned object, the ball bearing swivel also comprises an electrically insulating insert by means of which the bowl-shaped casing member of the ball bearing swivel is electrically insulated from the stud member.

  • Patent number: 4301589
Abstract: A tool for facilitating the mounting of locking pins in hooks, shackles, eyes and other chain auxiliaries or the like comprises a holder for a supply of locking pins. These are releasably retained, e.g. by a friction grip, in at least one row of apertures in the holder, which suitably is of plastic. When mounting a locking pin by means of the tool the pin is placed with its lower end immediately above the aperture, in which the pin shall be located, and is driven in into the aperture by means of a hammer blow. The tool preferably also comprises a drift pin for driving locking pins out of the chain auxiliary or the like by means of hammer blows upon the draft pin.

  • Patent number: 4280728
Abstract: A grab hook for shortening a chain or for forming a sling therein comprises a shank portion with an upper suspension end, a point portion and an intermediate bridge portion. Shank portion and point portion are separated by an arcuate chain link introduction opening having substantially parallel edges and ending at the bridge portion. To make the hook suitable for short link chains as well as for long link chains the bridge portion is laterally displaced with respect to the suspension end, and on one side of the hook the edges of the introduction opening widen into arcuate recesses in the shank portion and the point portion, respectively. These recesses end in shelves which are located above the top side of the bridge portion and are adapted to support a chain link.

  • Patent number: 4134256
Abstract: A coupling unit comprises in combination (A) a substantially U-shaped shackle having two opposing, apertured shanks and a removable spindle which extends through the shank apertures, and (B) an eye member, such as a hook, which has at least one flattened portion, whose smallest dimension is smaller than the distance between the shanks of the shackle for permitting the eye member to be coupled to the shackle.
