  • Patent number: 7337810
Abstract: A fabric for use with a system for monitoring prescribed body functions comprising an elastic fabric, adapted to be carried by a torso, which is stretchable in its longitudinal direction so as to expand and contract in response to body movement and size. The carrier includes at least one conductive and inelastic yarn arranged longitudinally of and located between upper and lower surfaces. The conductive yarn is arranged in sinusoidal configurations longitudinally of the fabric. The conductive yarn breaks through one of the outer surfaces at a selected breakout along the length of the fabric. The conductive yarn is cut to present at least one exposed end above the one outer surface. A monitoring unit, which includes a connector and a sensor, is secured with the one outer surface of the fabric at the breakout with the connector being united with the at least one exposed end of the conductive yarn.

The conductive yarn forms a breakout through one of the outer surfaces, at selected locations along the length of the fabric, forming opposed exposed ends above the surface. A monitoring unit, which includes a connector and a sensor, is secured with the one surface at the breakout with the connector being united with the exposed ends of the conductive yarn. The fabric acts to maintain the monitoring unit in a desired stationary position allowing the sensor to sense signals emitted from the torso and transmit these senses signals.

  • Patent number: 7128616
Abstract: A connector assembly is disclosed for interconnecting high speed data transmission cables across an interface panel to an external circuit. A first pin array of conductive pins is carried by an input face and a corresponding second pin array of conductive pins is carried by an output face of a panel connector. An array of conductive sockets corresponding to the second pin array is carried by a plug front of a plug connector for receiving the second array of pins when connectors are mated together. A third pin array of conductive pins is carried by plug back corresponding to the first pin array. In this manner, a first set of transmission cables electrically connected to the first pin array of the panel connector is electrically connected to a second set of transmission cables connected to the third pin array of the plug connector.

  • Patent number: 5911595
Abstract: The electrical connector of this invention is for terminating the wires of a cable into an electrical insert positioned within a connector backshell at an angle to the direction of the cable. A wireing space at the rear of the backshell is provided to terminate the wires within the insert. The connector is used to provide a connector interface for a cable running along one surface of a bulkhead and turning at an angle through the bulkhead to a receptacle or connector face extending from the other face of the bulkhead. The connector face receives an associated electrical interface device. The electrical connector of this invention provides the connector in a minimum amount of clearance space on both sides of the bulkhead. Grounding and shielding of a shielded portion of the cable to the connector is also provided within the minimum clearance space. A tie cord attaches the wires of the cable to a neck of the hollow shaft of the connector backshell to provide stress relief for the wires.

  • Patent number: 5788528
Abstract: The high-speed electrical transmission cable connector assembly of this invention includes an electrical connector having a connector backshell with an internal cavity for receiving an electrical insert to interface with an electrical interface device. An adequate amount of space is provided by the internal cavity within the backshell for routing wires of the transmission cable through a neck in an entrance side of the backshell to terminate within the insert. The backshell has a truncated side and a short lateral side for saving space and weight of the electrical connector. A grounding terminal is carried within the internal cavity of the backshell adjacent to the neck on a short neck side for grounding wires within a short distance inside the backshell. An attachment and release mechanism is provided for connecting and disconnecting the interface device to the electrical insert within the backshell.

  • Patent number: 5773762
Abstract: A woven wire harness assembly for use in restricted areas of varying sizes. The harness assembly includes a fabricate cable carrying a plurality of insulated conductor groups. The cable is formed of warp yarns woven with a weft yarn to form a trunk portion and a tube portion. Both the trunk portion and the tube portion terminate with a breakout area. The trunk portion includes a plurality of cells while the tube portion has only a single cell. The plurality of insulated conductors extend continuously along the length of harness assembly through the individual cells to finally consolidate and extend through the single cell. The cable is woven at a density which provides approximately 90% cover providing mechanical and thermal insulation for the insulated conductors.

  • Patent number: 5760340
Abstract: A woven transmission cable formed of a plurality of conductor wires arranged in side-by-side relationship forming an array which extends along a single plane. Coating the conductor wires with a self lubricating insulating material and separating them with warp yarns which are located between adjacent ones thereof. Weaving a weft yarn, formed also of a self lubricating material, to pass alternately over and under the warp yarns and the wires of the array, forming a woven structure in which the wires are capable of longitudinal adjustment relative to the warp yarns and the weft yarns. The longitudinal adjustment allows the cable to be shaped into an arcuate configuration while maintaining the wires along a single plane.
