  • Patent number: 5009037
Abstract: The proposed apparatus comprises a chamber containing an abrasive powder, two pairs of powder compacting mechanisms arranged one above the other, means for charging the abrasive powder to the chamber, and gates for discharging the used powder. In addition, the apparatus further includes a system of conduits for separately feeding the abrasive powder to the space between working members of the powder compacting mechanisms and the plane along which the strip is pulled, and a system of conduits for separately evacuating the powder from said working space to gates for discharging the powder from the chamber.

  • Patent number: 4947587
Abstract: The proposed chamber relates to sheet rolling in metallurgy. The chamber has two halves with a structure for closing, sealing, and opening the halves, and departing one half from the abutment plane, and includes two mechanisms for compacting the abrasive powder. The structure for closing, sealing, and opening the two halves along the abutment plane includes a ring having two cams divided by a slot. The ring sits in annular recesses separated by a slot and arranged on a support of the shaft of the mechanism for compacting the abrasive powder.

  • Patent number: 4918960
Abstract: A method relates to the metallurgical industry. The claimed method includes stretching of the strip (1) flat in a horizontal position through the cleaning zone with abrasive ferromagnetic powder (6), in so doing, the strip is stretched first in one direction, then in the opposite, direction, enclosing the cleaning zone between the upper (2) and lower (3) branches formed on the strip (1).

  • Patent number: 4211101
Abstract: The invention relates to rolling, and more particularly, to a mill stand roll assembly comprising grooved rolls. A thrust shoulder for each of the rolls, formed on a roll neck, is located inside a thrust hydrostatic bearing placed in a chock secured to a housing. Each thrust has disks each being arranged on both end faces of each thrust shoulder in parallel thereto and forming with the chock a cavity communicating via an orifice in the chock with a source of liquid. Each thrust shoulder having an annular slot coaxial with the corresponding roll for accommodating two washers secured to a chock in a parallel and spacial relationship with one another. A hole in the chock is disposed so as to permit a flow of liquid to pass between the washers. The liquid delivery rate is adjustable with respect to the amount of roll displacement and the roll assembly makes it possible to adjust the mutual arrangement of rolls directly in the process of rolling.
