  • Patent number: 7402041
Abstract: Disclosed is a motion simulating device that includes a first scissor jack having a helical screw and a motor that rotates the helical screw of the scissor jack thereby raising or lowering the first scissor jack. Also included is a second scissor jack also having a helical screw and a motor that rotates the helical screw thereby raising or lowering the second scissor jack. At least one platform can be connected to the first and second scissor jacks. A controller is in communication with the first and second motors so that rotation of the helical screws of the first and second scissor jacks raises or lowers the scissor jacks thereby moving the platform up and down in accordance with movement of the scissor jacks. The controller can be a joystick, a steering wheel, foot pedals, a voice trigger, a gear shifter, roller ball, or any other device capable of translating mechanical energy into an electrical signal. The motion simulating device can also include at least one additional controller.

  • Patent number: 6949085
Abstract: A safety syringe assembly is provided which can be united for use and disposed thereafter in a safe manner. Accidental punctures and cross-contamination from used needles are eliminated by use of the retractable needle and removable shroud. The syringe assembly is efficient in operation, low in cost and the method of use is easily learned due to the relatively small number of syringe components employed.

  • Patent number: 5695475
Abstract: Syringe apparatus is provided which can be used in multiple ways such as injecting patients with various medications, taking blood samples, or in IV (intravenous) applications. The apparatus includes an outer sleeve slidably positioned over an inner sleeve which includes a penetrable member thereon. The penetrable member allows needle injection of a fluid from another syringe into the inner sleeve. One embodiment of the apparatus has a single pointed needle attached to the inner sleeve and a second embodiment has a double pointed needle for use in blood collection or the like. The syringe apparatus has a built-in safety feature by the use of a coiled spring which causes the needle to retract within the outer sleeve when released to prevent accidental needle puncture.

  • Patent number: 5360409
Abstract: A syringe holder for a conventional disposable syringe. The holder includes a needle assembly having a retractable needle for preventing accidental needle pricks. The needle assembly mounts to the forward end of a carrier having a chamber for receiving a hypodermic syringe. A plunger is slidably mounted in the carrier for moving the syringe between a loading/unloading position and a "use" position. As the hypodermic syringe is moved from its loading/unloading position to its "use" position, the hypodermic needle is extended through an aperture in the needle cap to expose the hypodermic needle. A locking means locks the hypodermic syringe in the "use" position during administration of medication to or drawing fluid from a patient. After use, the locking means is released and the needle is urged to a retracted position by a biasing means. The needle assembly and hypodermic syringe then are discarded.
