  • Patent number: 4084400
Abstract: The method of making self-twisted fibrous product from at least two strands relates to spinning. According to the method, each one of a pair of continuously fed strands is acted upon by a torque imparting to the strand an alternating twist. Then the strands are united or plied, so that they untwist about one another, forming the self-twisted product, the strands, as they are thus untwisting about one another, having positively applied thereto a torque in the direction of their untwisting, with the frequency of the variation of the direction of the torque equalling the frequency of the variation of the sense of the twist imparted to each strand. As a result, reliable engagement of the strands is attained without acting thereupon by friction, which minimizes the drift in space of the point of engagement of the strands, whereby the length of the portions devoid of the twist is reduced and stabilized, and the twist of the strands is fully utilized in the twist of the product.

  • Patent number: 4068459
Abstract: The present invention relates to methods of twist-plying a fibrous product. In accordance with the proposed method, applied to each of two fibrous ribbons is a pulsating torque created by a vortex of air of an invariable direction. Apart from the pulsating torque, each fibrous ribbon is constantly subjected to an additional torque of the opposite direction. The amount of the additional torque is less than that of the pulsating torque and is equal to 0.1 - 0.8 of its amount. As a result, each of the fibrous ribbons acquires a sign-variable twist. The fibrous ribbons are thereafter joined together and, while untwisting on each other, they become interlaced, thereby forming the finished product. This makes it possible to enhance the quality of the product, to reduce the end breakage thereof, and to improve both the stability and reliability of the process.

  • Patent number: 4058960
Abstract: The distributing device for supplying compressed air to the jet nozzles of swirl chambers relates to apparatus for making a self-twisted product. The distributing device comprises a stationary hollow housing with apertures and a passageway for supplying compressed air, and also a rotary distributing member of a cylindrical shape, in the form of a sleeve with a bottom, mounted in the internal space of the housing with a gap left therebetween, this gap permanently communicating with the compressed air supply passageway. The open end of the distributing member faces the compressed air supply passageway and, the member having passages made in the cylindrical wall thereof, periodically communicating through the apertures in the housing with the jet nozzles of the swirl chambers, to supply compressed air thereinto.

  • Patent number: 4055039
Abstract: The apparatus for obtaining a self-twisted product from at least two filamentary strands relates to spinning equipment. The apparatus includes a mechanism for continuously feeding the strands, swirl chambers having each jet passages producing air swirls of opposite directions within these chambers and thus effecting the twisting of the strands, an arrangement for supplying air alternatingly into these jet passages, a device for uniting or plying the strands issuing from the chambers and a mechanism for winding the final product. In each swirl chamber, the jet passages are displaced relative to one another longitudinally of the chamber. In adjacent swirl chambers, the jet passages producing the air swirls of the same direction are arranged to that one of them is situated at the inlet end of its respective chamber, while the other one is situated at the outlet end of its chamber. In this way clogging of the jet passages is precluded, and the strength of the final product is increased.
