  • Patent number: 9866301
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a macrocell base station (BS), such as an LSAS BS, estimates its backhaul channels with a small-cell BS (e.g., a relay or repeater) by averaging multiple instances of a received pilot signal repeatedly transmitted by the small-cell BS. Since the macrocell and small-cell BSs are stationary, averaging the received pilot signal transmissions over time results in the zero-temporal-mean time-dependent component of each backhaul channel as well as zero-temporal-mean noise and interference signals from other wireless nodes to substantially cancel out, enabling the macrocell BS to relatively infrequently estimate a relatively time-invariant, dominant component for each backhaul channel. The macrocell BS uses the estimated dominant components to generate user-data-based downlink transmissions to the small-cell BS. In this way, the processing to estimate channel state information (CSI) data for the backhaul channels is greatly reduced compared to conventional techniques.

  • Publication number: 20160285534
Abstract: In certain embodiments, a frequency-division duplexing (FDD) communication system has (i) a multiple in, multiple-out (MIMO) node with multiple MIMO-node antennas and (ii) a second node (e.g., a relay or a repeater) with at least one second-node antenna. The MIMO node transmits downlink (DL) signals to the second node over multiple DL channels in a DL frequency band (FB), and the second node transmits uplink (UL) signals to the MIMO node over multiple UL channels in a UL FB different from the DL FB. The MIMO node receives pilot signals from the second node in the UL and DL FBs and generates UL and DL FB channel state information (CSI) based on the received pilot signals. The MIMO node decodes UL data signals from the second node based on the UL FB CSI and generating DL data signals to the second node based on the DL FB CSI.

  • Patent number: 9124475
Abstract: Embodiments of the claimed subject matter provide methods and apparatuses for interference cancellation. One embodiment of a method includes estimating, for an antenna in an antenna array including a plurality of antennas, interference parameters using analog signals received at the antenna on each of a plurality of subcarriers. Each interference parameter is associated with one of a plurality of symbols transmitted to one of a plurality of users on one of the plurality of subcarriers. This embodiment also includes canceling interference from analog signals received by the antenna on the plurality of subcarriers using the estimated interference parameters.

  • Patent number: 8619779
Abstract: Various embodiments relate to a Cloud Data Center, a system comprising the Cloud Data Center, and a related method. The Cloud Data Center may include a logical customer edge router to send packets between addresses in a private enterprise network and addresses in a logical network within a cloud network. The logical network may have resources, known as virtual machines, allocated to the private enterprise network and may share a common IP address space with the private enterprise network. A directory at the Cloud Data Center may correlate the enterprise IP addresses of virtual machines with a cloud IP address and a location IP address within the logical network. The Cloud Data Center may double encapsulate packets with two specified headers, a cloudIP and locIP header, when sending a packet to a destination in the logical network.

  • Publication number: 20130262656
Abstract: A method and system for identifying causes of performance metric changes in a network by selecting, from a pool of network event counters, a plurality of candidate counters relevant to a performance metric; grouping the candidate counters into clusters of similar counters; selecting, from each cluster, one or more representative counters; and fitting the selected representative counters to a model of the performance metric to determine thereby a set of representative counters most relevant to the performance metric.

  • Patent number: 8081567
Abstract: A system and method for network based detection of wireless data subscribers using network address translation devices is provided. The method includes identifying a minimum number of devices showing the same internet protocol address. Packet identification sequences may include port numbers or internet protocol identification numbers. The method continues with grouping these applications by their packet identification sequences and applying detection logic where detection logic yields a conclusion that there are multiple host computers when a set of applications appears in a plurality of packet identification sequences. This method is particularly useful when internet protocol addresses are dynamic, as opposed to static. This method overcomes previous embodiments known in the art by being able to account for and work with live traffic, which enables real time detection.

  • Publication number: 20110090941
Abstract: To address the need for new techniques that are able to address overlapping channel collisions various embodiments are described. They are used to introduce the concept of retransmission-permutation, in which a bit-to-subcarrier assignment is permuted (1301) during packet retransmission (1302), thus departing from the well-known, simply-repeat paradigm. Various embodiments are straightforward to implement and able to exploit collision-free subcarriers to decode packets despite successive collisions in overlapping channels.

  • Publication number: 20110078303
Abstract: Various exemplary embodiments relate to a workload distribution system for an enterprise network extended in to a cloud network and a related method. The enterprise network may include a series of servers in a private enterprise network and a scalable series of servers in a cloud network. The enterprise network may employ one or more load balancers in both a private enterprise network and cloud network that are connected to each series of servers to distribute work amongst the servers in both networks based on criteria such as overall system performance and costs. The enterprise network may also employ one or more controllers to scale the number of cloud servers allocated to the enterprise network based on the system workload and other user-defined criteria, such as revenue generated per work request.
