  • Patent number: 8204757
Abstract: Creating a dynamic food order for a traveler is provided. A food order is received from the traveler. A determination is made as to whether a real-time itinerary for the traveler has changed. In response to a change in the real-time itinerary, the food order is adjusted based on the real-time itinerary and preferences stored in the traveler's profile to form an adjusted food order.

  • Publication number: 20080288576
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and system for sharing one or more graphics images between devices using profiles. A request to establish a communications link is transmitted from a first device to a second device using a first profile. A response indicating acceptance of the first profile or a request to negotiate a different profile is received from the second device. A profile matching the second device is negotiated and selected at the first device. One or more graphics images are transmitted from the first device to the second device using the profile matching the second device.

  • Publication number: 20060129820
Abstract: A new communicating object class is created: “The electronic excuse object”. This is an object class that provides for the automatic distribution via a communications network of a certification by an accepted authority of the existence of events justifying a responsive action or inaction by an entity, e.g. a person subjected to the effects of such events. A system for the certification of the existence of events enabling responsive actions that comprise at least one object of an object class including the identity of the entity authorized to make the certification, the identity of the entity enabled to take the responsive actions and a certification by the authorized entity of the existence of the events and a communication network process through which this object may be accessed so as to provide the certification to a designated recipient. The object contains an appropriate programming process for sending an electronic communication, such as an e-mail or Web document, to the designated recipients.

  • Patent number: 6901367
Abstract: A method for allowing recipient translation of information received by a data processing system configured with a user interface having in a human language which is different from the human language of the transmitted information. A desired human language for user interface with resident software applications on said data processing system is first selected. Then incoming communications to the data processing system which involves transmission of human language-based ad information are intercepted and analyzed to determine if it is in a different human language than the desired human language. When the human language of the incoming communication differs from the desired human language, the human language of the incoming communication is dynamically translated into the desired human language. Finally, the translated incoming communication is transmitted in the desired human language to an output device of the data processing system.

  • Patent number: 6718341
Abstract: The invention locates store employees by receiving a set of unique signature transmissions by a set of receivers on the store. Each transmission emanates from a badge worn by a store employee. In a database, each unique signature with an employee and employee biographical information, including an expertise of an employee. The transmissions from the badges are used to locate employees in the store. Responsive to a user request for employees having a given expertise, a store map is displayed on an informational kiosk wherein showing the location of the employees having the given expertise.

  • Patent number: 6505165
Abstract: A method and apparatus in a distributed data processing system for locating a facility from a plurality of facilities. Data is collected from the plurality of facilities. The collected data is compared with current data regarding the facilities. Changes present between the collected data and the current data are identified. The current data is updated using the changes. Responsive to a request from a mobile computing system for a location of a facility, a response is sent to the mobile computing system based on the current data and the request.

  • Patent number: 6442473
Abstract: A method and apparatus for acquiring a traffic signal for presentation in a vehicular mounted display. A receiver is located on the vehicle for receiving a traffic message from a traffic signal proximate to a vehicle. The vehicle includes a location and direction determining systems for determining a location and direction of the vehicle. A decoding systems is present for decoding the traffic message. A selection systems is used for determining an appropriate traffic signal display for the vehicular mounted display according to the location and direction of the vehicle relative to the traffic signal. The traffic signal display is displayed on a display in the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 6104394
Abstract: A data processing system, software program and method effectively and intuitively display a storage space of a data processing system to an end-user to allow the end-user to create a filing system which has an easily usable interface. In implementing this methodology, the user is allowed to simply request that all objects within an entire file system of a data processing system be placed in a logical container. A user sets the parameters for defining the desired characteristics of each of the objects stored within the logical container. Thus, a user is able to organize representations of desired objects in various storage locations without requiring extra steps by a user or excess memory. Furthermore, the contents of a logical container are dynamically updated in real-time to ensure that the filed information is current and accurate.

  • Patent number: 6069630
Abstract: A data processing system and methodology implement a graphical user interface for providing a graphical link map. In the graphical link map, various types of files and documents are color-coded and shape-coded for easy identification of placement within a linked environment of a web page. The methodology for implementing the graphical link map manipulates dynamic, complex linked programs or files in a virtual three-dimensional graphical display in a web page authoring program. This graphical display allows linked programs to be built, edited, combined, by presenting the representation on a workspace. An external user may thus access the entire linked program on a single screen of a graphical user interface of the web page developer to easily identify and manipulate differing authoring elements within that data processing environment.

  • Patent number: 5969720
Abstract: A data processing system renders a real-world object on a display device to represent a storage space of the data processing system. The real-world object is displayed with various labels and indicators to provide information about the internal contents of the storage space represented by the object as well as the storage space itself. Such visual indicators allow an external user to access information about the contents of a storage space without actually opening the storage space or delving into the depths of the user interface to determine additional information. In addition to providing information about the storage space represented by the real-world metaphor, the data processing system also allows the external user to selectively name the storage space represented by the object in a useful manner.
