  • Patent number: 7867474
Abstract: A series of crystalline layered and microporous compositions have been prepared. Compositions that have a layered structure and are identified as UZM-13, UZM-17 and UZM-19. Upon calcination at a temperature of about 400° C. to about 600° C., these compositions form a microporous crystalline zeolite with a three dimensional framework which has been identified as UZM-25. A process for preparing all these compositions and processes for using these compositions are also disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7728187
Abstract: Adsorbents and methods for the adsorptive separation of meta-xylene from a mixture containing at least one other C8 aromatic hydrocarbon (e.g., a mixture of ortho-xylene, meta-xylene, para-xylene, and ethylbenzene) are described. Suitable adsorbents comprise sodium zeolite Y having an average crystallite size from about 50 to about 700 nanometers. The adsorbents provide improved separation efficiency, which may be associated with a higher meta-xylene mass transfer rate and/or other beneficial effects. Exemplary desorbents for use in the process may comprise toluene, benzene, or indan.

  • Patent number: 7713513
Abstract: A family of crystalline aluminosilicate zeolites designated UZM-8HS and derived from UZM-8 have been synthesized. The aluminum content of the UZM-8HS is lower than that of the starting UZM-8 thus changing its ion exchange capacity and acidity. These UZM-8HS are represented by the empirical formula: M1an+Al(1?x)ExSiy?Oz? and are prepared by treatments such as acid extraction and AFS treatments.

  • Publication number: 20090149313
Abstract: The present invention discloses mixed matrix membranes (MMMs) containing polymer-functionalized low acidity, ultra low silica-to-alumina ratio, nano-sized SAPO-34 small pore molecular sieves and a continuous polymer matrix and methods for making and using these membranes. The surface functionalization of these molecular sieves provides a desired interfacial adhesion between SAPO-34 nano-particles and the continuous polymer matrix, which results in either no macrovoids or voids of less than 5 angstroms at the interface of the continuous polymer matrix and SAPO-34 in the MMMs. These MMMs, in the form of symmetric dense film, asymmetric flat sheet membrane, or asymmetric hollow fiber membranes, have good flexibility and high mechanical strength, and exhibit remarkably enhanced CO2 permeability (or CO2 permeance) and maintained CO2/CH4 selectivity over the continuous polymer matrices for CO2/CH4 separation. The MMMs of the present invention are suitable for a variety of liquid, gas, and vapor.
