  • Publication number: 20230382616
Abstract: A flexible packaging material includes first and second polymeric films, selectively bonded areas between and joining the first and second polymeric films to one another, and selectively unbonded areas between the first and second polymeric films. At least portions of the first and second polymeric films are in opposing face-to-face contact with one another in at least some of the unbonded areas. At least some of the bonds are respectively positioned between at least some of the unbonded areas.

  • Publication number: 20200017269
Abstract: A package includes a polymeric flexible bag with an opening to an interior space configured to contain liquid, and a flexible reinforcing article having a cavity at least partially containing the flexible bag. The reinforcing article protects the flexible bag from impacts. The reinforcing article includes at least one piece of flexible polymeric material extending at least partially around the cavity. The reinforcing article circumferentially engages, and circumferentially provides inwardly oriented force against, an exterior of the flexible bag. Opposite ends of the reinforcing article are spaced apart by a distance that is less than a distance between opposite ends of the flexible bag. An opening of the reinforcing article is proximate one of the opposite ends of the reinforcing article and configured to have a portion of the flexible bag extend through the opening. The reinforcing article can be a sleeve or bag.

  • Patent number: 6391411
Abstract: The present invention is directed to oriented high molecular weight, high density polyethylene (HMW HDPE) films having enhanced water vapor transmission properties, as well as, superior toughness properties, and articles made therefrom. The present invention is also directed to a method of making machine direction oriented HMW HDPE films having enhanced water vapor transmission properties and superior toughness properties, and articles made therefrom. The present invention is further directed to articles, particularly bags, made from machine direction oriented HMW HDPE films having enhanced water vapor transmission properties and superior toughness properties.

  • Patent number: 4539369
Abstract: An improved method for the production of poly (vinyl acetals) using no added catalyst comprises mixing poly (vinyl alcohol) and an excess amount of aldehyde to produce poly (vinyl acetals), wherein the reaction is driven by removal of water in the form of an aldehyde-water azeotrope.

  • Patent number: 4405819
Abstract: An improved process is provided for the production of alcohols from carboxylic acids using the reaction of carboxylic acids with alcohols in the presence of hydrogen and carbon monoxide to form esters which are subsequently hydrogenated over a suitable hydrogenation catalyst. The invention is useful because the temperature and pressure conditions are reduced from current commercial processes while hydrogenation catalyst activity and lifetime are promoted by the removal of catalyst poisons such as water.
