  • Patent number: 4679943
Abstract: A scent clock bimetallic device for releasing odors into the environment for exposing heat sensitive fragrance releasing material has a heating element and a shutter vane rotatively secured to a thermal mass and mechanically linked to a bimetallic strip whereby the shutter vane is caused to rotate in response to heat and exposed said heat sensitive fragrance releasing material to the environment.

  • Patent number: 4645353
Abstract: A scent clock alarm device is provided which awakens the user with a scent instead of a noise or a light. In one embodiment of the invention a scent disc is provided which releases a fragrance when either heat or pressure is applied to the surface of the disc by a stylus. In this way a number of scents may be provided and selected. Another embodiment provides a system of scent cartridges in which the scent source is either liquid, solid or a combination of liquid and solid. In every embodiment the scent ceases abruptly when the alarm is turned off.

  • Patent number: 4573804
Abstract: A scent-awake electronic clock is provided which wakes the user with a scent followed by a snooze period after which an external alarm, such as a bell or a flashing light are activated. A timer circuit determines the duration of both the scent and the external alarms. A variable counter circuit allows the user to determine the time interval between the initiation of the initial scent alarm and the beginning of the snooze period after which the external alarm sounds. A switch is provided which allows the user to have the external alarm activate during both the scent alarm time and after the end of the snooze time.

  • Patent number: 4407585
Abstract: An alarm clock that awakens a sleeper by the scent of smell. A housing is provided in which is mounted a storage container of aromatic liquid, which liquid is dispensed at a preset time by a timing mechanism. Various dispensing mechanisms are disclosed for releasing the liquid from the container at the preset time. In the first embodiment, the storage container has a spray nozzle, which is pressed downwardly at the preset time and at intervals by a lever arm pivoted by a solenoid operated by the timing mechanism. In another embodiment, the storage container is vacuum sealed, and a U-shaped tube is provided in which a first end is placed outside of the tube and the other end inside the tube above the liquid level. The solenoid operates a pivotal arm that alternately exposes the open end of the tube to air to supply pressure in the container and thus forces out the liquid.
