Abstract: A process for the delignification and bleaching of chemical pulp utilizes an acid treatment stage aimed at reducing the quantity of hexene uronic acids present in the pulp by at least 30%, and a pH adjustment stage of the pulp aimed at depositing or redepositing ions of alkaline-earth metals on the fibres of the pulp. The process further includes a washing stage of the pulp and a treatment stage of the pulp with an oxidizing agent. A chelating agent is added to the pulp before and/or during the acid treatment stage and/or before or during the pH adjustment stage or between the pH adjustment stage and washing stage.

Abstract: Cellulosic materials and more particularly wood shavings, pulps, and cellulosic textile fibres are exposed to the combined action of microwaves and at least one oxidizing agent.In particular, the process makes it possible to improve the brightness of the end product.

Abstract: Process for inhibiting the corrosion of equipment made of titanium or of alloys containing titanium by a solution containing a peroxy compound. To effect the inhibition, a solution containing calcium, strontium or barium ions is used.

Abstract: A process is provided for dispersing finely divided water-insoluble particles in an aqueous medium. The dispersing agent used comprises a salt of a polymer derived from an alpha-hydroxyacrylic acid, which salt contains units of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 independently represent hydrogen or an alkyl group containing 1 to 3 carbon atoms and wherein M represents a cationic radical resulting from the dissociation of a base.
