  • Patent number: 11612069
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to an exemplary hinge of an enclosure that can house an electrical network protection element and provide protection to the electrical network protection element against damage in various environments such as when the enclosure is placed in an underground vault that may be flooded during rain, or when a liquid (e.g., oil) comes into contact with the enclosure. The hinge may include two portions, one portion attached to one or more doors of the enclosure and one portion attached to a housing of the enclosure. The hinge may be configured such that it may be adjusted in multiple directions (for example, beyond one plane of rotation that typical hinges may offer), and thus allow for greater adjustability of the one or more doors of the enclosure relative to the housing of the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 10973141
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to an exemplary cooling system for an enclosure that can house an electrical network protection element and provide protection to the electrical network protection element against damage in various environments such as when the enclosure is placed in an underground vault that may be flooded during rain, or when a liquid (oil, for example) comes in contact with the enclosure. The exemplary cooling system may include a coolant reservoir, one or more false walls coupled to the exterior of the enclosure, one or more pancake panels coupled to the false walls through one or more header pipes, and one or more coolant pipes for circulating coolant from the coolant reservoir, through the one or more pancake panels, false walls, and header pipes, and back to the coolant reservoir. The cooling system may only be in contact with the exterior portion of the enclosure. That is, the cooling system may not directly contact the electronics within the enclosure.

The enclosure includes a flange attached to the housing and two doors that are hingeably attached to the flange. A wedge projection is provided along the perimeter of the flange and a gasket is provided on three outer edges of each door. The gasket sealingly receives the wedge projection of the flange when the doors are closed. The first door further includes a beveled inner edge that sealingly mates with a gasket in a complementary beveled inner edge of the second door when the doors are closed.

  • Patent number: 10424903
Abstract: The disclosure generally relates to an exemplary enclosure that protects an electrical network protection element in various environments such as when the enclosure is submerged in water or when the enclosure is placed in an underground vault that may be flooded during rain. The enclosure has a gasket that includes a first portion having a sloping surface which provides a continuously incremental amount of sealing in cooperation with a beveled edge of a door of the enclosure and a second portion having a flat surface which is compressed by a wedge projection in the door and provides water tight sealing as well. The enclosure includes a locking bar having a tapered portion, which moves into an opening in a flange of the enclosure and automatically creates a continuously incremental amount of pushing force upon the door against the gasket when a pivotable handle is operated for closing the door.
