    Abstract: A method for withdrawing a sample of enclosed fluid from an internal organ of a living mammal by using a temperature-sensitive probe to reliably position a fluid withdrawing means into the fluid containing organ. In particular, a method for detecting a change in temperature in the myometrium tissue during penetration of a cannula into a uterus to minimize the possibility of injury to a fetus in an amniocentesis procedure.
