  • Patent number: 10716040
Abstract: A wireless device 230 and a method therein for triggering a cell reselection procedure. The wireless device is served by a first Radio Network Node (RNN) 210, and the wireless device and the first RNN are operating in a wireless communications system 200. The wireless device determines a difference between a second signal parameter of a second signal and a first signal parameter of a first signal, wherein the first and second signal parameters are received from the first RNN. Further, the wireless device triggers a cell reselection procedure when the determined difference is larger than a first predetermined threshold value for the cell reselection procedure.

  • Publication number: 20200053787
Abstract: A method by a communication device for supporting a random access procedure in a wireless communication network. The communication device provides an indicator for indicating a presence of an initial access request by the communication device. The initial access request is part of the random access procedure. The indicator comprises a pre-defined synchronization sequence, wherein one of: the indicator comprises a first access burst extending over one time slot, wherein the first access burst comprises the pre-defined synchronization sequence, which is longer than 41 bits, and the indicator comprises a second access burst extending over two time slots, the second access burst comprising the pre-defined synchronization sequence, which is longer than 88 bits. The communication device transmits the indicator on a random access channel in uplink to a network node. The indicator indicates the presence to the network node of the initial access request.

  • Publication number: 20200052810
Abstract: The present disclosure provides methods and apparatus for detecting when a data transmission has been preempted or punctured by detecting inconsistency in the modulation or other signal characteristic of a received signal. If an inconsistency is detected, measures can be taken to mitigate potential problems caused by the inconsistent data. In one example, the receiving device (30) may identify soft bits in a soft buffer that may have been corrupted and flush the corrupted parts from the soft buffer.

  • Publication number: 20200052812
Abstract: A method performed by a network node for handling a damaged transmission of data due to data puncturing is provided. The network node receives (201), from a User Equipment, (UE) a Negative Acknowledgment (NACK) feedback of a previous transmission of data transmitted to the UE. The network node checks (202) whether or not the data is punctured in the previous transmission corresponding to the NACK feedback. When the data is punctured in the previous transmission, the network node selects (203) a Redundancy Version (RV), for a retransmission of the data, according to characteristics of the punctured data and puncturing data. The network node then sends (204) a Puncturing Indication (PI), the selected RV and the retransmission of the data to the UE.

  • Publication number: 20200045718
Abstract: Techniques for improved scheduling request (SR) operation using one or more short transmission time intervals (sTTIs) (908) are presented to ensure both short latency and improved wireless coverage for user equipment (UE) (102). In particular, a method (1000) performed by a UE (102) for managing SR transmissions to a network node (106) is presented. The method can include determining (1002) a value indicative of network coverage conditions, and based on the value indicative of network coverage conditions, determining (1004) a transmission duration (908) for transmitting one or more SRs (118). In addition, the example method can include transmitting (1006) the one or more SRs (118) to the network node (106) using the determined transmission duration (908). Related devices, computer programs, processor/memory combinations, and systems are likewise described.

  • Publication number: 20200037238
Abstract: A method for selecting a cell by a wireless device in a wireless communication network is disclosed. The method comprises: receiving a signal from a cell associated with a network node; determining whether the signal from the cell satisfies a cell selection criterion, wherein the cell selection criterion is based at least in part on a parameter that controls a compensation to the cell selection criterion, the compensation being associated with a power class of the wireless device; and selecting the cell in response to a determination that the signal from the cell satisfies the cell selection criterion. A wireless device for carrying out this method is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20200007370
Abstract: A wireless device (810) obtains (904) a first transmission time interval (TTI) for transmitting a first signal, and determines (908), based on the first TTI, a first transient time associated with the first TTI that defines a first duration during which a transmit power level of the wireless device changes. The wireless device transmits (912) the first signal using the first transient time. The wireless device obtains (916) a second TTI for transmitting a second signal, wherein a length of the second TTI is different from a length of the first TTI. The wireless device determines (920), based on the second TTI, a second transient time associated with the second TTI that defines a second duration during which the transmit power level of the wireless device changes that is different from the first transient time. The wireless device transmits (924) the second signal using the second transient time.

  • Publication number: 20190373551
Abstract: According to one aspect, a method includes selecting at least one of a common bandwidth scheme and a common power scheme. If the selected at least one scheme includes a common bandwidth scheme, a common bandwidth to be used by the wireless device for transmission of two data channels in two successive short transmission time intervals, sTTIs, that share a common demodulation reference signal, DMRS, is determined. An indication of the common bandwidth to the wireless device to enable the wireless device to set the bandwidth of the two data channels to a common bandwidth value is sent. If the selected at least one scheme includes a common power scheme, then a common power control command to control an output power to be set by the wireless device for two data channels in two successive sTTI, that share a common DMRS is determined.

  • Publication number: 20190349126
Abstract: A receiver blindly determines which parts of the soft buffer to flush by comparing the reception of a first transmission to the reception of a second transmission (i.e., a re-transmission of the first transmission). Any large differences between the first and second transmissions are identified as puncturing events. After identifying the location of the puncturing events, the receiver then evaluates different hypotheses about which one of the transmissions was punctured in the different events. For each of the hypotheses the receiver attempts to decode the received data and the receiver stops processing once decoding is successful or after the receiver has processed all of the hypotheses.
