  • Patent number: 8162892
Abstract: An injector device assembly and a method for making an injector device assembly are provided. The injector assembly includes a sterile insertion set with a housing and a hollow cannula and a device housing. A plunger is slidably received within the device housing for movement between an advanced position and a retracted position wherein the cannula is transcutaneously placed upon movement of the plunger from the advanced position to the retracted position. The device housing has a forward end defining a surface of placement against the skin of a patient with the device housing in a predetermined orientation relative to the patient's skin. The injector device assembly includes a spring for urging the plunger toward the advanced position and a releasable cover member covering the forward end. The cover member and the device housing assure sterile conditions of the insertion set within the device housing prior to removal of the cover member.

  • Patent number: 8152771
Abstract: An injector device for transcutaneously placing a hollow cannula of a subcutaneous infusion set is disclosed. The injector device includes a plunger slidably received within the device housing for movement between an advanced position and a retracted position, the plunger having an insertion needle secured thereto by a stable connection preventing loss of the insertion needle during use of the device. The insertion needle receives and supports the cannula of the subcutaneous infusion set in a position with the cannula oriented for transcutaneous placement upon movement of the plunger from the retracted position to the retracted position.

  • Patent number: 8062250
Abstract: A cannula device for infusion sets is provided. The cannula device includes a housing and at least one membrane mounted to the housing and adapted for receiving a piercing member of a connector. The cannula device further includes a cannula mounted to the housing. The cannula device is adapted to removably attach to a base part of an infusion set. The cannula device can receive the piercing member from a first receiving direction and from a second receiving direction different from the first receiving direction, providing fluid communication between the piercing member and the cannula mounted to the housing.

  • Patent number: 7867199
Abstract: The invention relates to an inserter for an infusion set for intermittent or continuous administration of a therapeutical substance such as e.g. insulin. The inserter comprises a needle unit comprising a needle hub and a carrier body, and a cannula housing. The cannula housing and the needle hub are releasably connected and when they are connected, the insertion needle is placed inside the cannula. The carrier body guides the movement relative to the set housing between a retracted and an advanced position. When released the needle unit and the cannula housing are forced by a spring unit to an advanced position where the needle and cannula are placed subcutaneously. One object of the invention is to provide a disposable inserter for an infusion set which inserter is easy and safe for the user to handle during use and to dispose of after use.

  • Patent number: 7654484
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus (1) for adjusting the length of an infusion tube (2) comprising a first wall (3) and a second wall (4) and at least one connecting element (5) connecting the first wall (3) to the second wall (4), said connecting element (5) being situated at a distance to the peripheral circumference of the walls (6), and wherein the distance between the walls in radial distance to said connecting element provides an inlet opening extending around the connecting element having a width (M) measured between the walls (3, 4); and wherein the apparatus comprises at least one attachment device (8) for securing the infusion tube (2). Hereby a winding of an infusion tube is enabled for adjusting the connection length between pump and the site of infusion anywhere on the infusion tube and on any kind of infusion tube, said apparatus being independent of the infusion unit. Thus, the apparatus enables reuse due to its independence of the pump.

  • Patent number: 7648494
Abstract: An infusion set having an infusion part for insertion into a patient and a connector for connecting the infusion part with a medical device through a tube is provided. The connector is axially displaceable relative to the infusion part. The infusion part includes an adhesive support, a base part with a first set of guiding means and at least two retention devices for locking the connector to the infusion part, a cannula extending from the base part and being in fluid communication with a cavity. The cavity is further adapted to receive a second cannula extending from the connector where the second cannula is in fluid communication with the tube. The infusion set further includes a second set of guiding means that are adapted to fit with the first set of guiding means and at least two arms. The retention devices extend from an upper surface of a main surface of the base part and the arms include means corresponding to the retention members.

  • Patent number: 7594909
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for adjustment of the length of an infusion tubing including a housing with cylinder part having a center axis, the housing further including at least one turnable unit. The apparatus is reusable. The system also enables the user to locate the apparatus anywhere on his body he may find suitable with regard to physiology and with regard to clothing. It is thus possible to arrange the apparatus underneath one's sweater, in one's waistband, pocket or the like. The simple adjustment of the apparatus is particularly suitable for the handicapped, and likewise it saves time for hospital staff in connection with patients who use infusion units.
