  • Patent number: 6476300
Abstract: A musical instrument stand such as a hi-hat stand equipped with hi-hat cymbals is basically constructed a stand member, a pedal device containing a pedal frame and a pedal, and a stand leg unit corresponding to a foldable tripod containing three legs. The stand leg unit vertically supports the stand member together with the pedal frame of the pedal device, which is placed on a floor. Herein, first, second and third legs of the stand leg unit are spread on the floor and are subjected to nonuniform arrangement such that a first angle is set between the first and second legs and between the second and third legs, while a second angle is set between the first and third legs. Preferably, the first angle ranges between 100° and 110°, and the second angle ranges between 140° and 160°. The pedal is arranged in an area that lies between the first and third legs, which are widely spread with the second angle in plan view.

  • Patent number: 5458038
Abstract: A foot pedal, particularly as used for the bass drum of a drum set, is fundamentally constructed of a heel member, a foot board, a beater, a frame member and a base plate. The heel member supports one edge portion of the foot board so that the foot board can freely rotate about the supporting point. In response to operation of the foot board by the performer, the beater is moved to beat the drum head of bass drum, so that the bass drum sounds are produced. The beater is supported by the frame member so that it can freely rotate about the supporting point. The frame member has a vertical portion which extends along with the rotation direction of the foot board. An edge portion of the base plate is fixed to the heel member, while an opposite edge portion is fixed to the vertical portion of the frame member by a connecting mechanism, so that the base plate is assembled with the heel member and frame member in the predetermined positional relationship.

  • Patent number: 5410938
Abstract: In construction of a drum having at least one drum head, the drum head is set in tension, by assistance of a fastening counterhoop, to a suspension ring fixed to one open end of a tubular kettle and a double-type screw unit used for manual fastening of the drum head includes lug nuts mounted to the suspension ring preferably via idle, tiltable engagement and cooperative fastener bolts mounted to the counterhoop in screw engagement with the lug nuts on the suspension ring. Automatic centering is performed by the screw unit during fastening thanks to the idle, tiltable engagement and such automatic centering by the screw unit enables high tension fastening of the drum head without causing any breakages in the screw construction.

  • Patent number: 5331878
Abstract: In construction of a connecting unit of a stand for percussion musical instruments such as snare drums, a clutch base at one end of the first supporting element is coupled, via cylindrical projection/circular bore engagements, to a clutch arm at one end of the second supporting element, an arm base is coupled, via square projection/square depression engagement, to the clutch base while sandwiching the clutch arm, and the three elements are fastened together in the direction of their combination. The cylindrical projection/circular bore engagement allows free combination of the two supporting elements at any selected cross angle whereas the square projection/square depression engagement assures long maintenance of the combination despite frequent application of vibrations.

  • Patent number: 5218151
Abstract: In construction of a hi-hat cymbal holder for upper and lower cymbal plates, an extension rod holding the upper cymbal plate is supported at its lower end by a bush in a holder unit, the lower cymbal plate is supported stationarily by the holder unit and a rotary ring of a gap adjuster nut is mounted to the holder unit so that its rotation causes up and down movement of the extension rod via the bush. For cymbal gap adjustment, the rotary ring is manually rotated in the opening or closing direction so as to move, via the bush and the extension rod, the upper cymbal plate with respect to the lower cymbal plate. The adjuster nut is located close to the position of a player during performance and its rotary ring can be easily operated by one hand of the player only without disturbing stick operation by the other hand.

  • Patent number: 4903569
Abstract: A drum lug includes a lug case and a lug nut. The lug case is fixed to an outer surface of a drum body. A threaded hole with which the lug bolt is threadably engaged is formed in the center of the lug nut. The lug nut is housed in the lug case with one end portion of the lug nut being exposed outside the lug case. A spot-faced hole communicating with the threaded hole is formed in the center of an outer end face of the lug nut in a predetermined depth. The hole diameter of the spot-faced hole is set to be slightly larger than the major diameter of the threaded hole.

  • Patent number: 4873910
Abstract: A drum foot pedal apparatus includes a stabilizing plate, springs, fixing metal pieces, fastening bolts, and pawls. The pawls prevent a frame from being removed from the stabilizing plate. The fastening bolts are threadably engaged with screw holes of the frame through U-shaped grooves of screw mounting portions, the springs, and the fixing metal pieces, respectively. Thus, there is provided a drum foot pedal apparatus which is easy to handle and has a simple structure in which a frame and a heel can be stably fixed.

  • Patent number: 4186644
Abstract: A rocker cam for holding a beater head and a resilient belt or strap for operationally connecting the rocker cam to an inclined foot pedal are coupled to each other via meshing engagement by cooperating indentations formed on mating surfaces of the two members and tensile strength of the belt or strap is remarkably enhanced by fortifying members such as steel wires or glass fibers longitudinally embedded in the belt or strap. Stress concentration on a set screw for fixing the belt or strap to the rocker cam can be avoided, permanent strain of the belt or strap after long use is divided into mutually incumulative small fragments and reliable coupling between the belt or strap and the rocker cam assures fair conversion of foot action into beater head movement without undesirable metallic noises.
