  • Publication number: 20110103999
Abstract: Provided are a method for forming a metal coating at high speed by using a simple cold spray apparatus, and an aerospace structural member on which a metal coating is formed by the cold spray method. In the metal coating forming method, nonspherical heteromorphous particles made of metal are projected onto a base material surface by the cold spray method to form a metal coating on the base material surface.

  • Patent number: 7740434
Abstract: There is provided a fastener able to prevent damage due to environmental factors such as ultraviolet rays, and impact from sanddust, lumps of ice, and raindrops without obstructing a flow of electric shock current that flows along a top surface of an outer skin. The fastener connects an outer skin of an aircraft to a structural member positioned inside this outer skin, and is provided with a dielectric layer arranged to cover one end surface of a head section, and a conductive layer arranged to cover one end surface of this dielectric layer.

  • Publication number: 20040022949
Abstract: The present invention provides an abradable coating which is applied to the surfaces of stationary parts in rotary machinery such as gas turbines and does not cause damage or other trouble to the blades, as well as a method for forming the same. This method for forming an abradable coating comprises the steps of coating a shroud material with a partially stabilized zirconia ceramic material to form a zirconia ceramic layer having a cubic or tetragonal crystal structure on the surface of the shroud material; and subjecting the shroud material having the zirconia ceramic layer formed thereon to high-temperature water treatment at a temperature of 100 to 450° C. for 1 to 300 hours and thereby transforming the crystal structure of the zirconia ceramic layer into a monoclinic crystal structure. Alternatively, shot peening may be employed in place of the high-temperature water treatment.
