  • Patent number: 7908898
Abstract: The invention proposes a method for the integral molding of a flange (5) onto the end of a round or oval pipe (11) of thin-walled sheet metal. This method takes place in two stages. In a first stage, for the purpose of accumulating material, a sectionally circular or spiral-shaped bead (17) is molded on by means of a pre-forming roller tool (9), comprising a combination of rollers (13 to 15) (Figure a). In a second stage, the molded-on bead is compacted with the aid of a final-forming roller tool (18), comprising the rollers (19) and (20), to produce an at least partly solid flange (5) (Figure b).

  • Patent number: 7661730
Abstract: An open clamping ring (11) is provided for connecting tubes (1) that are provided with terminal flanges (2). The clamping ring is drawn together with the aid of a clamping lock that is provided at the open ends of the clamping ring. The clamping (10) substantially has the shape of a U whose legs that are composed of an inner leg section (12) and an outer leg section (14) are bent such that a clamping edge (13) is formed in the central area between the leg sections (12 and 14). The inventive clamping ring (10) thus approximately has the shape of an X. The clamping edges (13) rest more or less linearly on the outside of the final flange sections (2a) such that the friction between the clamping ring (10) and the terminal flanges (2) is reduced when the clamping ring is assembled while force is transmitted and distributed in an optimal manner.

  • Patent number: 7464453
Abstract: A process is provided for producing a connecting flange (32) for a butt joint on an end of a pipe section (10) of sheet metal with circular or oval cross section. The process includes sliding a pipe piece over the outer side of a pipe section (10), so that the pipe piece forms on the outer side of the pipe section (10) a reinforcing ring (47) lying flush against the pipe section (10) and bending the one end of pipe section (10) and the end of the reinforcing ring lying thereupon, from the pipe wall (12) outwards, to form a projecting ring rim (14) in the pipe section (10) and to form a flank (44) in the reinforcing ring (47). The flank (44) of the reinforcing ring (47) can lie against at least the radially inner part of the projecting ring rim (14), thereby forming the connecting flange.

  • Publication number: 20080164691
Abstract: The invention relates to an open locking ring (14) comprising a screw lock which is used to connect pipes comprising end flanges or to fix covers to containers or the like. Said screw lock comprises a clamping screw which extends in the peripheral direction and is embodied as a double spindle (1), the ends of said clamping screw being provided with counter rotating threads (2, 3). Said threads (2, 3) engage in threaded plates (6, 10) with a right-handed inner thread (7) or a left-handed inner thread (11), the threaded plates (6, 10) being pivotably mounted in bearing blocks (15) connected to the ends of the clamping ring (14). The ends (13) of the clamping ring (14) are pulled together or pushed away from each other by actuating the double spindle (1). To this end, the double spindle (1) is provided with a central part (4) embodied as a hexagon such that a simple fork spanner (23) can be used to open or close the screw lock.

  • Publication number: 20040089043
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and device for forming a one-piece flange (10, 18) or rim on the end of a steel or sheet-metal (12) pipe. The pipe is placed in a flat position on all sides on the inner surface thereof close to the end thereof and is clamped. One part of the pipe (10) protrudes above the clamped section of the tube (12). The protruding part of the pipe is bent by applying surface pressure against a peripheral section on the inner surface thereof, until a desired outward flectional angle is obtained. The desired flectional angle on all parts of the pipe (10, 18) or a part or section (10) thereof is gradually achieved by rotating the pipe (12) relative to the peripheral section wherein the flexing occurs.

  • Patent number: 5346265
Abstract: A coupling sleeve for connecting thin-walled the ends of pipes comprising a circularly bent sheet-metal strip and a sealing strip lining the inside thereof. A turnbuckle on the sheet-metal strip causes the coupling sleeve to be tightened against the pipe ends. A loosely attached spacing member located approximately at the axial middle of the coupling sleeve in the region of the turnbuckle has an end that projects through the sealing strip into the interior of the coupling sleeve in the untightened condition and is pressed outward, during the tightening of the turnbuckle by an end of the sheet-metal strip and is forced into the elastic inside surface of the sealing strip or into a slit in the sealing strip.

  • Patent number: 4865365
Abstract: The end of a duct section having flat sheet metal plates is bent up to form connecting flanges having an essentially hollow closed profile. Flange walls of the connecting flanges bearing the free edges of the duct section are lock-seamed into folding pockets which are formed between the duct wall and the adjoining flange wall. To connect duct sections having larger duct cross-sections, the flange walls can have outwardly extending protrusions for reinforcement.

  • Patent number: 4822083
Abstract: Butt joint between two thin-walled round sheet metal pipe sections. The butt joint has a flange ring (14) with a triangular hollow section at each pipe end (10); said hollow section has a slit (26, 26') at its radially inner side, into which the radial annular edge (12), flanged at pipe end (10), is inserted. As a result, the annular edge (12) is prevented from getting caught in the opposite pipe end (10) and, at the same time, a firm fit of the flange ring (14) is guaranteed on the appropriate pipe end (10).

  • Patent number: 4679832
Abstract: A one-piece flange ring for mounting in an open pipe includes a flange, an outer and an inner leg projecting from the flange, and an outer and an inner annularly projecting land for engaging the inner wall of the pipe. The outer leg is closer to the inner wall of the pipe than the inner leg when installed in the pipe. The outer and the inner leg are substantially parallel to one another and a capable of being fixed under stress with respect to the flange by the inner wall of the pipe when the legs are driven into the open pipe. The outer and the inner pipe engaging lands have an outer diameter greater than the inner diameter of the pipe before installation in the pipe, and they are flexed under stress toward the center of the pipe when the flange ring is installed in the pipe. The outer and the inner pipe engaging lands have an outer diameter equal to the inner diameter of the pipe after installation in the pipe. The outer and the inner pipe engaging lands are bent diagonally toward the flange.

  • Patent number: 4558582
Abstract: An apparatus is provided which forms flanges on sheet metal for ventilation duct walling. The apparatus comprises a die support which contains a pressure die, a beam punch carrier mounted in low-friction manner on the die support, and a forming roller pivotally housed in a recess of the die support. Hydraulic drives are supported, each between the die support on the one hand and the beam punch carrier or the forming roller on the other hand, and these produce the movements necessary for edge folding and roll forming. The forces which arise are taken up directly at their point of origin by the mutually moving parts themselves.
