    Abstract: The invention concerns a variable speed transportation system using passive vehicles. The passive vehicles (1) are driven at variable speed by tubes (4) rotating in bearings (13) mounted on cross-bars (14) supporting the rails (2 and 3) and by rollers rolling on the tubes (4) and orientable through an articulated parallelogram linkage (7) actuated by a lever (8) and a maneuvering sprocket wheel (9) controlled by cams situated at the edge of the track or at the rear of the preceding vehicle.
