Abstract: Quality of Service (QoS) in a communication network is managed. A service provider requests a level of QoS for communication in the communication network using a QoS request. The requested level of QoS may be allocated to the service provider based on the QoS request. The service provider may make the QoS request on its own initiative and/or in response to a request from an application that is hosted by the service provider. A QoS level may then be allocated to the service provider and/or to particular applications that are hosted by the service provider.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for implementing a locator service are provided. A method includes receiving object identification information and location identification information from a vehicle. The location identification information indicates the presence of the vehicle at a parking space. The method also includes creating an occupancy record that includes the object identification information and the location identification information. The method further includes receiving a request to locate the vehicle during an exiting process, the request including at least a portion of the objection identification information. The method further includes retrieving the location identification information from the occupancy record associated with the object identification information, and presenting the location identification information of the parking space to the operator.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and computer program products for implementing a locator service are provided. The method includes receiving, at a computer system, object identification information and location identification information from a vehicle. The location identification information indicates the presence of the vehicle at a parking space. The method also includes creating an occupancy record that includes the object identification information and the location identification information. The method further includes collecting fees from an operator of the vehicle during an exiting process based upon information in the occupancy record. The location identification information is received at the computer system via a radio frequency identifier associated with the parking space.

Abstract: Disclosed is a network-based device in an IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) that provides IMS services to terminating non-IP devices. The method embodiment includes receiving a REGISTER message that initiates registration of a Public User Identity (PUID) at a terminating non-IP device at a network-based device in an IMS, wherein the terminating non-IP device is specified as being at an E.164 routing address, establishing, in a network device that accepts communications regarding where to send sessions destined for a specific PUID and provide information regarding where to send sessions, the E.164 routing address as a final destination of sessions to the PUID based on the registration and an IP address of a network device that includes routing functionality based on telephone numbers as an immediate destination for the session and using this information from the registration to route to the terminating non-IP device after providing IMS services by using the relationship between the PUID, the E.

Abstract: Systems for automatically selecting a user's profile based on location include a device adapted to being tracked by location and a database that includes a user's preferences for routing calls. The user's calls are routed to the user based on the user's call routing preferences and the location of the device. Other systems and methods are also provided.

Abstract: A target entity is monitored by defining a geographic rule for the target entity. A location signal for the target entity is received that represents a current location of the target entity. A determination is made whether the current location of the target entity satisfies the geographic rule. Notification is provided if the current location of the target entity satisfies the geographic rule.

Abstract: Systems and methods for silent message delivery are provided. One such embodiment includes a message receiver configured to receive a text message and convert it to a corresponding speech message. A message router is connected to the message receiver and configured to route the speech message dependent on information included in the speech message in accordance with a messaging directory. Preferably, a Voice Profile for Inter-system Messaging (VPIM) agent is connected to the message router and configured to convert the speech message to a corresponding VPIM message and deliver it to a voice mail system. Methods are also provided for delivery of a text message as speech message to a voice mail system without initiating a call to a telephonic device.

Abstract: Methods of providing messages for a user can include accepting entry of a message for the user, and accepting entry of a location criteria associated with the message. Physical location information for a wireless communications device associated with the user can be obtained, and the message for the user can be transmitted when the physical location information for the wireless communications device matches the location criteria associated with the message. Related systems and computer program products are also discussed.

Abstract: Support of a plurality of different applications utilizing a next generation network having a network layer is provided by an application services middle layer between the applications and the network layer that includes a plurality of common infrastructure elements usable by the different applications. The common infrastructure elements provide services associated with use of the network and services that are not associated with use of the network. The common infrastructure elements may provide a common infrastructure element to an end user such that use of the service by the end user is accessible to each of the different applications utilizing the at least one common infrastructure element. A common infrastructure element may be accessible by an end user so as to provide a common infrastructure element to the end user for the different applications. The different applications may include both third party applications and network service provider applications.

Physical location information for a wireless communications device associated with the user can be obtained, and the message for the user can be transmitted when the physical location information for the wireless communications device matches the location criteria associated with the message. Abstract: A system and method that notifies a voice mailbox subscriber of the receipt of a message at a voicemail server using instant messaging. A preferred embodiment of the invention includes an enhanced notification server that receives a notification of the message from the voicemail server, queries the availability of an instant messaging client via an instant messaging presence server, and forwards the notification to the instant messaging client via the instant messaging presence server if the instant messaging client is available. In preferred embodiments, provisions are made to forward the message to the subscriber via instant messaging.

Abstract: A method of securing moving objects includes receiving signals from the moving objects, determining location of the moving objects based on the received signals, evaluating the location information and triggering an alarm notification if the evaluation results in determination that a moving object is located outside a permissible area.

Abstract: Methods and systems for enabling a subscriber to reply to a voice mail message that has been made available for the subscriber at a voice mail system (VMS). In response to an indication, the VMS transmits a release message with respect to the subscriber's communication to the VMS, which communication then is terminated to an intelligent network element (INE). The INE originates a call to the party to whom the subscriber desires to reply. The subscriber's communication and the INE's call are bridged to form the reply call from the subscriber to the party. The VMS is not included in the call path. After the reply call is concluded, the bridge is dismantled, the IP is released, and the subscriber's communication is returned to interaction with the VMS without the subscriber having to make a separate call into the VMS.

Abstract: Included are embodiments of methods for providing voicemail conversion. At least one embodiment of a method includes receiving a message waiting indicator signal in a first protocol, the message waiting indicator signal being received from a Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) based voicemail server, the message waiting indicator signal being configured to indicate that a message for a called party has been received by the PSTN based voicemail server. Some embodiment of a method include receiving a PSTN based identifier for an Internet Protocol (IP) based communications device associated with the called party and converting the received message waiting indicator signal from the first protocol to a second protocol, the second protocol being configured for communication to the IP based communications device.

Abstract: Methods and systems for enabling a subscriber to interrupt a review of messages in a voice mail system (VMS), to make a call or take some other action, and to return to the same position as occupied at the time of interruption in the review of messages in the VMS. In response to an indication from the subscriber's communication to leave the review, an identifier is created to mark the position of the subscriber's communication in the review. The identifier is stored in the VMS. The VMS transmits a release message with respect to the subscriber's communication, the message including a copy of the identifier. The message may be a GR-1120 message including a remote operations (RO) parameter with the copy of the identifier. In response to the release message, a service control point (SCP) stores the copy of the identifier and causes whatever action is indicated in the message to be taken with respect to the subscriber's communication.

Abstract: A system for supporting a notification capability for a plurality of applications utilizing a next generation network having a network layer includes an application services middleware between the applications and the network layer comprising a plurality of common infrastructure elements usable by the applications. The common infrastructure elements provide both services associated with use of the network and services that are not associated with use of the network. The plurality of common infrastructure elements includes a notification service that is configured to facilitate the sending of messages from authorized services to recipients.

Abstract: A system and method that notifies a voice mailbox subscriber of the receipt of a message at a voicemail server using instant messaging. A preferred embodiment of the invention includes an enhanced notification server that receives a notification of the message from the voicemail server, queries the availability of an instant messaging client via an instant messaging presence server, and forwards the notification to the instant messaging client via the instant messaging presence server if the instant messaging client is available. In preferred embodiments, provisions are made to forward the message to the subscriber via instant messaging.
