  • Patent number: 10750738
Abstract: Methods and systems of maintaining, evaluating, and providing therapy to a lung ex vivo. The methods and systems involve positioning the lung in an ex vivo perfusion circuit; circulating a perfusion fluid through the lung, the fluid entering the lung through a pulmonary artery interface and leaving the lung through a left atrial interface; and ventilating the lung by flowing a ventilation gas through a tracheal interface. Maintaining the lung for extended periods involves causing the lung to rebreath a captive volume of air, and reaching an equilibrium state between the perfusion fluid and the ventilation gas. Evaluating the gas exchange capability of the lung involves deoxygenating the perfusion fluid and measuring a time taken to reoxygenate the perfusion fluid by ventilating the lung with an oxygenation gas.

  • Publication number: 20200189698
Abstract: An inflatable life preserver uses a novel packing method with a lightweight inflatable film that allows it to integrate with equipment so that it is not noticeable to the user in the uninflated condition and does not impede the user's operations. In the uninflated state, the bladder is folded and rolled in a way that minimizes the device footprint. The device can be attached to a MOLLE vest or other garment. In the inflated condition, the inflatable bladder material is unsupported and is constrained to provide buoyancy distribution to turn a user face-up at the water line.

  • Patent number: 10662235
Abstract: Cysteine engineered monospecific and bispecific EGFR and/or c-Met FN3 domain containing molecules comprising one or more free cysteine amino acids are prepared by mutagenizing a nucleic acid sequence of a parent molecule and replacing one or more amino acid residues by cysteine to encode the cysteine engineered FN3 domain containing monospecific or bispecific molecules; expressing the cysteine engineered FN3 domain containing molecules; and recovering the cysteine engineered FN3 domain containing molecule. Isolated cysteine engineered monospecific or bispecific FN3 domain containing molecules may be covalently attached to a detection label or a drug moiety and used therapeutically.

  • Publication number: 20200148140
Abstract: The present invention relates to a dispenser module for converting preexisting analog systems into a customizable digital system. According to an illustrative embodiment of the present disclosure, a user can utilize preexisting analog equipment to operate and control a dispenser module. A squib is electrically connected to a logic circuit such that the normal “firing” of the original payload at that location will cause a change in the state of the electrical circuit. Because there are multiple payload allocations within one module, this allows electrical communication with individual/select payload devices by an operator. Payloads in the module can be quickly swapped in and out without making any changes to the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 10628284
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for converting physical input signals into bitstreams using syntax trees regardless of the physical input signal's protocol. Using declarative language definitions within a protocol declaration, a test and measurement system can compile a syntax tree that automatically translates the input data into a proper bitstream output. The declarative language definitions within the protocol declaration allow custom or standard protocol rules to be written for multiple or arbitrary input protocols without writing unsafe functions, having to access memory, or debugging more complex language codes.

  • Publication number: 20200054168
Abstract: A pizza oven is disclosed for cooking pizza or other food items on a barbecue grill. The pizza oven includes a top wall and a sidewall that together define an interior space sized and shaped to receive the food item to be cooked. The top wall includes one or more projections extending from an inner surface of the top wall into the interior space. When the pizza oven is positioned on the grates of a heated grill, heated air from the grill enters the interior space through a gap between the side walls and the food item. The heated air then contacts the one or more projections and passes over the top surface of the food item to cook the food item by convection. The one or more projections are sized and shaped to cause the heated air to move in a rotational pattern in the interior space. The rotational pattern allows the food item to be cooked faster and more evenly.

  • Publication number: 20200028196
Abstract: Nonaqueous redox flow batteries (RFB) hold the potential for high energy density grid scale storage, though are often limited by the solubility of the redox-active species in their electrolytes. A systematic approach enables an increase the concentration of redox-active species in electrolytes for nonaqueous RFB, starting from a metal-coordination-cation-based ionic liquid. As an example, starting with an ionic liquid consisting of a metal coordination cation (MetIL), ferrocene-containing ligands and iodide anions can be substituted into the original MetIL structure, enabling a nearly 4× increase in capacity compared to original MetIL structure. Application of this strategy to other chemistries, optimizing electrolyte melting point and conductivity could yield >10 M redox-active electrons.
