Publication number: 20090127170Abstract: A filter device for filtering liquids in internal combustion engines has a filter housing and a filter element inserted into the filter housing. A liquid to be filtered is introduced into the filter housing and flows through the filter element. An overflow valve is arranged between an entry side and a clean side of the filter element and has a valve body. The overflow valve is in an open position when a pressure of the liquid at the entry side of the filter element exceeds a threshold value. The valve body of the overflow valve is a sealing hose placed between the entry side and the clean side onto a cylindrical supporting body arranged in the filter housing. Flow openings are provided in the cylindrical supporting body. The sealing hose is arranged at the clean side of the supporting body.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 12, 2006Publication date: May 21, 2009Applicant: MANN+HUMMEL GmbHInventors: Markus Kolczyk, Dieter Amesoder, Sven Epli, Sascha Bauer, Michael Thienel, Rainer Loos

Patent number: 6558457Abstract: A drying agent box 10 which serves to remove moisture from air, especially for a compressed-air brake apparatus, and which comprises a housing 11 with at least one inlet 14 and at least one outlet 15, the housing 11 being formed by a container 12 and a flange 13. A drying agent body 18, which has a stable shape, is contained in the housing 11. Channels 22 may optionally be provided in the drying agent body for guiding the flow of air through the body. Different ways of installing the drying agent body 18 in the housing 11 also are described. Due to the stable shape of the drying agent body 18, the structure of the drying agent box is simplified because there is no need for components to hold a granular drying agent in place.Type: GrantFiled: November 20, 2000Date of Patent: May 6, 2003Assignee: Filterwerk Mann & Hummel GmbHInventor: Markus Kolczyk

Patent number: 6471755Abstract: A gas conducting system, particularly a compressed air system for a motor vehicle, which includes a filter containing a desiccant for removing moisture from a gas passed therethrough. The housing structure of the filter is provided with a seal with a weakened area 18, which specifically causes any overpressure to be reduced through failure of the weakened area if the pressure inside exceeds a permissible maximum. This process can be repeated multiple times until the seal with the weakened area 18 must be replaced due to aging. The weakened area can be used as a substitute for a pressure relief valve or as supplemental protection in case the pressure control valve fails, e.g., due to ice. This can prevent, for instance, bursting of the filter housing which could present a safety risk.Type: GrantFiled: August 9, 2001Date of Patent: October 29, 2002Assignee: Filterwerk Mann & Hummel GmbHInventors: Walter Binder, Markus Kolczyk, Christian Fischer

Patent number: 6439273Abstract: A method and apparatus for cleaning candles in a candle filter using a cleaning fluid that flows inside the candle from the side of the filtrate, whereby said fluid is pressed in an opposite direction to the direction of the filtrate from the inside to the outside, through said candles, by a gaseous medium subjected to an overpressure. Water is or can be used as an appropriate cleaning fluid and air is used as a gaseous medium. The prior art teaches nozzle-shaped contractions that are respectively disposed on the outlet end of the candles or deflectors arranged inside the candle at a distance from said contractions, whereby the in-flowing cleaning fluid is deflected towards all sides in the direction of the inner walls of the candles, are provided for distribution of said cleaning fluid.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2000Date of Patent: August 27, 2002Assignee: KHS Maschinen- und Anlagenbau AGInventors: Roland Krüger, Markus Kolczyk, Rainer Kuhnt, Dietmar Oechsle

Patent number: 6391199Abstract: A filter member for horizontal disc filters has a base plate having a peripheral edge and a hub connected to the base plate. The base plate has cavities extending in a radial direction of the base plate at a slant toward the hub, wherein the cavities are positioned closely adjacent to one another. The base plate has narrow projections formed between the cavities. A filter medium, providing a support for deposition filtration and cake-forming filtration, is formed as a thin filter plate with very small openings. The hub, the projections between the cavities, and the peripheral edge have support surfaces for supporting the filter plate. The filter plate is at least partially connected to these support surfaces by material bonding such as welding.Type: GrantFiled: September 29, 2000Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Assignee: Seitz-Schenk Filtersystems GmbHInventors: Wolfgang Diemer, Markus Kolczyk
