  • Patent number: 8419797
Abstract: An implant for stabilizing bones or vertebrae includes an implant body with at least a first hole and a second hole that can be fixed by a first screw and a second screw. Each of the screws includes a screw thread. Each of the holes has a threaded portion with an internal thread for cooperating with the screw thread, wherein the threaded portion of at least the first hole is formed of a flexible material. A guiding member that is a separate part is insertable into the implant body such that it is arranged at least partially within the first hole. The guiding member is configured to guide the first screw when the first screw is screwed through the threaded portion of the first hole. The second screw is spaced apart from the guiding member when the second screw is screwed through the threaded portion of the second hole.

  • Publication number: 20120165881
Abstract: A bone anchoring device includes an anchoring element having a shaft and a head, a receiving part having a coaxial bore and a seat for receiving the head, a pressure element configured to be movable within the bore, and a preload element being positionable between the head and the pressure element. When the head is inserted in the receiving part, the head is pivotable with respect to the receiving part, and can be locked at an angle relative to the receiving part by the pressure element. The pressure element can assume a position relative to the receiving part where the pressure element and the preload element are in direct contact, and where the pressure element exerts a force onto the head via the preload element to maintain one of a plurality of releasable angular positions between the head and the receiving part by friction before locking the head.

  • Publication number: 20110046683
Abstract: A bone anchoring device includes an anchoring element having a shaft for anchoring in the bone and a head, a receiving part formed in one piece, and a pressure element formed in one piece. The receiving part has a seat for receiving the head and an outer channel for receiving a rod to be connected to the anchoring element, which is pivotable with respect to the receiving part and can be fixed at an angle by exerting pressure via the pressure element onto the head. The pressure element is movable in the receiving part and includes an inner channel for receiving the rod and a spring element that engages a portion of the receiving part via a detent connection so that the pressure element can be held in a position that allows pivoting of the anchoring element. The spring element is formed by at least a first portion of one of two side walls forming the inner channel, the first portion being spaced apart from a second portion of the one side wall by a slot.
