  • Patent number: 11850877
Abstract: A printed product is produced by providing a substrate, producing at least one interlayer on the substrate, printing a printed image onto the interlayer, and forming a barrier layer on the printed image. The barrier layer is provided on the printed image by applying a barrier composition to at least one carrier, at least partially drying the barrier layer and transferring it to the printed image. Preferred substrates have an acidic precoat layer as an interlayer. Such substrates can then be varnished with glossy varnishes, to achieve particularly high gloss values.

  • Publication number: 20230150256
Abstract: A method for creating a printed product includes providing a printing substrate, providing a first fluid, applying the first fluid to the printing substrate as a first layer, providing an effect fluid as a second fluid, the effect fluid including a carrier fluid and platelet-shaped effect pigments, and applying the effect fluid to the printing substrate as a second layer, the second layer forming an effect layer. The first layer is created as a duct layer having a multiplicity of ducts. The ducts allow at least a portion of the carrier fluid of the effect fluid to pass through or enter, and the ducts substantially do not allow the effect pigments of the effect fluid to pass through or enter. This provides a cost-efficient and advantageous way of creating high-quality printed products with top quality finish and special effects having improved impact of the special effects.

  • Patent number: 11548300
Abstract: A method for operating a printing machine having a processor and a device for detecting features of printing substrates includes storing print jobs with the printing substrates appropriate thereto in a database. Features of at least one printing substrate are detected by using the device. The detected features of the at least one printing substrate are compared by the processor with the printing substrates of the print jobs from the database. The processor selects at least one print job in which the printing substrates of the print jobs from the database correspond to the at least one detected printing substrate or attain a predefined similarity. The at least one print job selected by the processor is subsequently executed on the printing machine.

  • Patent number: 9878485
Abstract: For the production of embossed microstructures in radiation-curing materials, use is made of a micro embossing form fixed to a reflective or scattering cylinder surface. Via a press nip, the micro embossing form comes into contact with the substrate guided over a cylinder or a deflection roller. The radiation-curing material is acted on in one or both pockets, before or after the press nip, with radiation which penetrates into the press nip by reflection or scattering.

Abstract: A plate for creating holograms or other light-bending or diffractive microstructures on web-shaped or sheet-shaped printing substrates includes a relief for a relief printing process. The relief is formed of one or more raised dies and one or more adjacent depressions. A non-metallic microrelief for printing or embossing the microstructure is provided exclusively on the dies. The plate may be manufactured in a process in which a primary plate has a negative of the microrelief and the microrelief is created by molding the negative.

  • Publication number: 20160229089
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a tool plate for treating a printing substrate includes pressing a master die having a surface structure and a tool plate blank coated with a cured layer against one another in a pressing nip, trapping a curable layer therebetween. As a consequence, the curable layer is applied to the cured layer of the blank and receives a negative of the surface structure in a molding process. The curable layer is subsequently cured. A printing machine tool plate and an embossing die for embossing holograms are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8462391
Abstract: A method for producing a pseudo-stochastic master surface for producing a cover or jacket of a cylinder for contacting printing material, includes providing the master surface with a pseudo-stochastic distribution of microsurfaces. The master surface is produced on the basis of a digital master in a jacket preliminary stage and serves for a preferably galvanic production of a microstructured cover, in which structure elevations correlate with the microsurfaces. The pseudo-stochastic distribution helps to avoid disruptive discernible effects, for example the moiré effect and helps to construct the microstructuring in a targeted manner. A master surface, a method for producing a cylinder cover, a cylinder cover, a machine for processing printing material, a method for producing printed products and a method for microstamping printed products, are also provided.

  • Patent number: 8413575
Abstract: A printing unit of a printing material processing machine, preferably a sheetfed offset printing press, includes a form cylinder and an impression cylinder. The form cylinder has a printing form for applying printed information to the printing material and the impression cylinder has a microstructured surface, preferably a cover, contacting the printing material. A surface of the impression cylinder contacting the printing material is provided with micro-embossed structures for applying embossed information to the printing material. The printing material is printed and embossed simultaneously.
