Patent number: 4910478Abstract: A multistage amplifier (1) consists of unit amplifiers (1a-1c) connected in series. A .lambda./2 strip line (20) is connected in parallel to the last stage unit amplifier (1c), so that a signal may bypass the last stage unit amplifier. When the last stage unit amplifier is disenabled, the signal bypasses the last stage unit amplifier, and the output power is reduced without a decrease of power efficiency in the other unit amplifiers. When all of the unit amplifiers are enabled and the strip line is grounded at the central point thereof, the output power is increased.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1989Date of Patent: March 20, 1990Assignee: Mitsubishi Denki Kabushiki KaishaInventor: Masaharu Koyama

Patent number: 4458987Abstract: A multi-layer liquid crystal panel for a liquid crystal display device having stacked light transmitting substrates of different sizes is disclosed. A retainer is disposed at a position directly beneath a sealing member which seals a first substrate and a second substrate, between the second substrate and a third substrate. The retainer is applied to the substrates simultaneously with the application of the sealing member. The first, second and third substrates are stacked one on the other and pressed to form a multi-layer panel. By virtue of the retainer, the gaps between the respective substrates are maintained uniform over the display area.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1981Date of Patent: July 10, 1984Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Ken Sasaki, Sigeru Matsuyama, Masamitsu Naoi, Noboru Hoshino, Masaharu Koyama

Patent number: 4412214Abstract: A liquid crystal display element includes a pattern display section defined by the superposing portions of upper and lower display electrodes. In a non-display area around the display section, upper and lower non-display electrodes are arranged so that the superposing portion thereof partially or entirely covers the non-display area. In operation, a non-selective voltage is always applied across a liquid crystal at the superposing portion of the upper and lower non-display electrodes.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1981Date of Patent: October 25, 1983Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Hironari Tanaka, Tadashi Ishibashi, Masaharu Koyama

Patent number: 4341445Abstract: A liquid crystal display element characterized by having an orientation controlling film containing a uniformly dispersed spacer therein on one inside surface of electrode substrates shows only a slight deviation in changes of the distance between the two electrode substrates even in the case of a large-size element. Such a liquid crystal display element can be produced by coating a mixture of a film forming material, a spacer and a solvent on one surface of an electrode adhered to one substrate, dried and baked, followed by conventional display element producing procedures.Type: GrantFiled: April 1, 1980Date of Patent: July 27, 1982Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Shigeru Matsuyama, Masaharu Koyama, Yukihiro Sato

Patent number: 4269617Abstract: A process for the manufacture of a liquid crystal container for a liquid crystal display element, which process comprises the steps of applying a low-melting glass frit paste to at least one of a pair of glass substrates, subjecting this glass substrate to primary firing in an open condition in which the paste is in no contact with any matters, and while holding the pair of the glass substrates in their accurate relative positions, subjecting the glass substrates to secondary firing to seal the pair of the glass substrates with the glass frit. The process preferably comprises the step of applying, prior to the step of secondary firing, a low-melting glass frit paste to one of the glass substrates so as to reliably hold the pair of the glass substrates in the accurate relative positions.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 1979Date of Patent: May 26, 1981Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshimichi Shibuya, Hiromitsu Kawamura, Yasuhiko Kando, Masaharu Koyama
