Patent number: 5483795Abstract: An NO.sub.x absorber (18) is arranged in an exhaust passage of an internal combustion engine. The NO.sub.x absorber (18) absorbs the NO.sub.x when the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the NO.sub.x absorber (18) is lean while releases the absorbed NO.sub.x when the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into the NO.sub.x absorber (18) becomes the stoichiometric air-fuel ratio or rich. An air-fuel ratio sensor (22) is arranged in the exhaust passage downstream of the NO.sub.x absorber (18). When the air-fuel ratio detected by the air-fuel ratio sensor (22) is switched from lean to rich after the air-fuel ratio of the exhaust gas flowing into NO.sub.x absorber (18) is switched from lean to rich, it is decided that the releasing action of NO.sub.x from the NO.sub.x absorber (18) is completed.Type: GrantFiled: September 15, 1994Date of Patent: January 16, 1996Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Kenji Katoh, Tokuta Inoue, Hidetaka Nohira, Kiyoshi Nakanishi, Satoshi Iguchi, Tetsuro Kihara, Masato Gotoh, Takamitsu Asanuma, Hiroshi Okano, Jun Harada, Shinichi Takeshima, Masahiko Sugiyama, Shigenori Sakurai, Kenji Ohkubo, Mikio Murachi

Patent number: 4748535Abstract: A method of magnetizing a rotor of a motor including the rotor made of an integrated magnet member and a stator is provided. Predetermined magnetic fields are preliminarily applied to the rotor to form magnetic paths and thereafter, the rotor is demagnetized. Then, the rotor is assembled into the stator. The rotor and stator are positioned such that the directions of the magnetic fields which are generated from the stator winding of the stator coincide with the directions of the magnetic paths of the rotor. Subsequently, in the state in which both of the rotor and stator are positioned, a current is supplied to the stator winding and the magnetic fields are generated, thereby magnetizing the rotor by the magnetic fields.Type: GrantFiled: January 30, 1987Date of Patent: May 31, 1988Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Noriaki Arawaka, Kenichi Iizuka, Hideo Uzuhashi, Masahiko Sugiyama, Akihisa Hamaguchi, Takashi Seshita

Patent number: 4636154Abstract: A horizontal type rotary compressor comprising radial partitioning walls in a discharge silencer. A slant portion is formed in the partitioning walls thereby enabling the oil within the discharge silencer to be discharged to the outside of the silencer. Thus, a noise generation due to a cavity resonance in the discharge silencer and an impact noise of a discharge valve in the oil may be prevented. At the same time, a carbonization of the oil, caused by an increase of the oil temperature, may also be prevented.Type: GrantFiled: June 3, 1985Date of Patent: January 13, 1987Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Masahiko Sugiyama, Masatune Sutou, Mitsuru Murata, Minoru Ooki, Shigetaro Tagawa

Patent number: 4506593Abstract: A piston head structure in which a piston head made of a ceramic is firmly secured to the top portion of a metallic piston body through the medium of a metallic ring fitted to the lower part of the piston head. In assembling, the ceramic piston head to which the metallic ring is fitted beforehand is secured to the top portion of the piston body by a shrink fit or, alternatively, the assembly of the ceramic piston head and the metallic ring is inserted to the metallic material of the piston body during casting of the latter, and the cast piston body is then subjected to necessary mechanical processing. In this structure, the separation of the piston head from the piston body is prevented due to the close fit of the ceramic piston head and the metallic ring to the metallic piston body. Such a fit prevents separation even when the piston body is expanded due to the heat generated during operation of the engine.Type: GrantFiled: January 21, 1983Date of Patent: March 26, 1985Assignee: Toyota Jidosha Kabushiki KaishaInventors: Masahiko Sugiyama, Kenichi Nishio
