    Abstract: A control electrode assembly is provided between a corona discharger and an electrostatic recording medium. The control electrode assembly has a pair of conductive electrodes interposing therebetween a insulating layer having a through hole extending from the upper conductive electrode to the lower conductive electrode. Selected one of the conductive electrodes is grounded through a change-over switch, which connects the selected electrode to the ground and disconnects the other non-selected electrode from the ground to electrically open it. Corona ions from the corona discharger charge the electrically opened conductive electrode to establish an electric field within the through hole. The corona ion current passing through the through hole can be modulated by operating the change-over switch to control the direction of the electric field established within the through hole in accordance with an image signal to form an electrostatic image on a recording medium.

    Abstract: In an electrostatic apparatus using a toner layer carried by a developing roller for developing a latent image, a doctor blade applied with a voltage of the same polarity as that of the toner is used for partly scraping the toner layer. The toner scraped off is sucked by a suction means. An additional doctor blade is preferably used together with the main doctor blade to make rough and fine control of the thickness of the toner layer.

    Abstract: In an electrostatic image recording apparatus employing a series of recording styluses for forming a latent image on an electrostatic image recording drum, an over-discharge is conducted either by applying a very high voltage to the recording styluses or by first subjecting the drum to a pre-charge in one polarity and then forming the latent image on the drum by an over-discharge in the opposite polarity. Pre-charging of the drum enhances the effect of the subsequent discharging and permits over-discharge to be conducted with a lower voltage applied to the recording styluses than would otherwise be possible.

    Abstract: An electrophotographic print marking apparatus for printing markings on rolled steel plates while the steel plates are being fed in a heated condition. A part of an image transfer belt which is brought to a transfer section where the powder image carried by the belt is transferred to the steel plate is made movable up and down by means of a pair of lower rollers. The rollers are moved up and down to bring the part of the belt in the transfer section close the steel plates when the powder image is transferred to the steel plates and to separate the belt far apart from the steel plates when the powder image is not transferred. A tension roller is provided to absorb the change in tension of the transfer belt accompanying the up and down movement of the lower rollers.

    Abstract: In an electrostatic powder coating method for coating a plate with electrostatic coating powder after or before the plate is provided with marking lines by electrophotographic print marking process, areas which are preferred to be free from the coating are not applied with the coating powder. After the coating powder is uniformly scattered on the plate, the powder is selectively removed to form a pattern shaped coating on the plate to form a non-coat area around the marking lines. In order to selectively remove the powder from the surface of the plate, a powder removing device which is controlled by a non-coating signal is used. The non-coating signal is given by a non-coating information output device. The non-coating information is recorded on an original which carries marking information for the electrophotographic print marking process.
