    Abstract: In a communication system in which a plurality of communication units are connected to a common two-wire transmission line and signal transmission/reception is made between the communication unit and a field sensor connected to one end of the transmission line, the communication unit transmits a signal to the field sensor under the condition that no signal is present on the transmission line during a period of time not shorter than a predetermined time while the field sensor transmits a signal indicative of in-use of the transmission line at an interval of time shorter than the predetermined time during a period of time until the field sensor sends back a signal in response to the signal from the communication unit, whereby signal collision between the plurality of communication units is prevented with no provision of any specific means.

    Abstract: A ceramic conduit with a metal outer tube is joined to bonding rings through insert members between end surfaces of the rings and annular bonding surfaces, with the annular bonding surface being not parallel to the axis of the conduit and the insert member being bonded to the ring and conduit. The rings are joined to the outer tube through welds between forward ends of annular protrusions provided in end surfaces which are the reverse surfaces of the surface bonded with the insert members and the forward ends of annular protrusions provided in axial end surfaces of the outer tube. The inner periphery of the outer tube is fitted on the outer periphery of the conduit with a small gap therebetween. The rings are bonded to the conduit with the insert members by being pressed against the conduit in the axial direction of the conduit and only a small quantity of heat is transmitted from the welds to other portions.

    Abstract: An air cleaning machine to be used in houses, offices and so on utilizes an ultraviolet-ray sensor and a gas sensor jointly to combine the characteristics, so that the operation of the appliance becomes extremely smooth. The appliance operates almost immediately especially when a signal from a light is received. If a cigarette is lighted, for example, indoors, the air cleaning machine operates immediately to clean the air, so that the user may actually feel it. When the gas occurs even under the circumstance where the ultraviolet ray does not reach the light sensor, the normal operation is performed, thus allowing the automatic operation to be effected. Accordingly, clean air is normally provided under the optimum circumstance.

A tank for the storage of the inflammable gas and a pressure regulator for adjusting the gas pressure are integrated together. By providing a gas inlet and gas outlet of the regulator so as to be oriented substantially at right angles to each other, the gas pressure is rendered constant to achieve a safe and stabilized combustion and, at the same time, the whole construction is miniaturized.

    Abstract: An electrically heated hair curling iron includes a sheet-shaped heater with electrodes affixed to an electrically resistive layer, wrapped around an elongated cylindrical support, and capable of being rapidly heated and maintained hot by electric current available from a rechargeable storage battery. The resistive layer has a positive temperature coefficient of resistance so that its temperature is self limiting. The storage battery is contained in a handle attached to the cylindrical support, and a battery charger is disclosed which comes into electrical contact with the battery when the handle is inserted in a cavity located in the battery charger. An elongated longitudinal clip is used to retain the hair in contact with the heater; a removable cap protects the heater and clip when the iron is not in use, and also engages a switch which ensures that the iron does not remain on.

    Abstract: A foam bathing apparatus comprising a main body including a blower, a container mounted on the main body for containing a bath and a porous body disposed at an inner bottom portion of the container. Air from the blower is passed through the porous body to produce numerous air bubbles in the bath for the user to immerse the face or the like in the bath for cleansing or massaging. The apparatus includes a pressure chamber provided within the main body and positioned downstream from the blower in proximity thereto, the pressure chamber being provided with a pressure adjusting assembly comprising, for example, a pressure adjusting aperture and a shutter for opening or closing the aperture for smooth and fine adjustment of the amount of air bubbles to be produced. The apparatus is usable also for cleansing or massaging other part of the human body, such as the hand, elbow or foot.
