    Abstract: An optical fiber element branching member for an optical fiber cord in which a plurality of optical fiber elements are coated with outer coating and a fiber cord branching method using the same member. The optical fiber element branching member comprises an optical fiber element arranging portion, a cord fixing portion and a base. The optical fiber element arranging portion includes a plurality of holes or concave grooves allowing optical fiber elements to pass through. Further, the optical fiber element arranging portion is/are attachable/detachable to/from the base. In another embodiment, the optical fiber element branching member includes a tension member disposed around the plurality of optical fiber elements with outer coating. The optical fiber element branching member comprises an optical fiber element arranging portion capable of arranging two or more optical fiber elements exposed by removing the outer coating from the optical fiber cord and peeling the tension member.

    Abstract: An optical connector for smoothly making connection with a connecting partner side and releasing this connection is provided. The optical connector has an optical connector housing. The optical connector housing is formed by inserting a slider into a base end wall of an arm side member so as to be freely advanced and retreated. A cam following face is formed on an inner wall face of an arm portion of the arm side member. A claw portion is formed on a tip side of the arm portion. An opening angle driving cam member is connected to a tip side of the slider. A ferrule is arranged between the arm portions on a forward side of the opening angle driving cam member. When the slide is moved backward, the opening angle driving cam member is moved backward and is operated to angularly open the arm portion through the cam following face. This opening angle state is maintained by making the opening angle driving cam member abut on a stationary face of the cam following face.

    Abstract: A connector adapter including a light emitting element for emitting a laser beam and connected with a plug having an optical fiber, whereby the laser beam emitted from the light emitting element is introdued into the optical fiber. The connector adapter comprises a shutter member fixed in a connector and including a base portion having a first spring portion and a shutter portion connected to the base portion. The base portion undergoes elastic deformation at the first spring portion so that the shutter portion recedes from the optical path of the laser beam when the plug is pushed into the adapter to be attached thereto, and is restored from the elastic deformation so that the shutter portion intercepts the optical path of the laser beam when the plug is drawn out of the adapter to be detached therefrom.

    Abstract: In an optical connector ferrule comprising an insertion opening through a bare fiber, from which the coating is removed, of one end of a coated optical fiber is inserted, a guide groove for guiding the bare fiber inserted through the insertion opening, a fiber hole into which the bare fibers guided by the guide groove is inserted, and an injection port through which adhesive for securing the coated optical fiber to the ferrule is injected, guide surfaces for guiding the bare fiber to the guide grooves are formed at sides of the guide groove. In the similar optical connector ferrule, there is provided an enlarged portion extending forwardly from a leading edge of the injection port in a fiber inserting direction and communicated with a filling space into which the adhesive is filled. Further, a ceiling surface of the enlarged portion is inclined downwardly forwardly from the injection port.

The leading end of a polishing tape (32) wound on the pay-out roller (30) is advanced along the tape travelling plane (9) and is taken up on the winding roller (31).

A supporting member (50) is fastened by crimping to an end portion of the fiber optic cable (100). An appropriate stripping operation is performed on the end portion of the fiber optic cable (100) so that optical fiber (150) and the reinforcing members (105) are exposed. Recesses (55a, 55b), which hold the reinforcing members are located in the supporting member (50).

After multiple optical connectors are aligned and positioned by using an aligning and positioning jig for engaging the altered-shape portions of the multiple optical connectors to one another to position the multiple optical connectors, multiple optical connectors aligned and positioned on one side are collectively connected to multiple optical connectors aligned and positioned on the other side. Then the aligning and positioning jig is removed from multiple pairs of connected optical connectors.
