    Abstract: A system for delivering music is provided, which reduces further the data amount of music to be delivered. A music delivery subsystem, which generates a delivering data from an original music data including a voice data and a performance data, comprises a compression coder and a multiplexer. The coder compression-codes the voice data of the original music data, thereby generating a compression-coded voice data. The multiplexer multiplexes the compression-coded voice data and the performance data, thereby generating a delivering data. At least one music reproduction subsystem, which reproduces an original music corresponding to the original music data from the delivering data transmitted through a computer or communications network, comprises a demultiplexer, a performance data configurer, a voice data decoder, and a mixer. The demultiplexer demultiplexes the delivering data to the compression-coded voice data and the performance data.

    Abstract: A terminal device such as a mobile terminal is provided with two real-time clocks which are powered by different power sources: a first real-time clock which is built in a control section (built-in microcomputer 1, for example) of the terminal device; and a second real-time clock which is provided outside the control section. At power-on of the mobile terminal or on recovery from failure such as a power cut, clock/calendar information is read out from the second real-time clock and is set to the first real-time clock, and thereafter, the control section obtains the clock/calendar information from the first real-time clock. The second real-time clock is connected to the control section directly by a signal line or via a functional device, or the second real-time clock is built in a functional device which is connected to the control section. By such composition and operation, the clock/calendar information can be maintained reliably and correctly even if failure occurred to the control section.

    Abstract: A method of rendering an existing pipeline flexible, by cutting out an intermediate portion of a pipe in a ring form, inserting a pipe joint into a cutout position, and connecting the pipe joint to the pipe. The pipe joint used in this method includes a plurality of sleeves interconnected in a fluid-tight condition to be oscillatable relative to one another. The pipe joint is inserted into the cut-out position and connected to the pipe, with the plurality of sleeves substantially fixed to one another while being interconnected in the fluid-tight condition to be oscillatable relative to one another. The sleeves are thereafter released from the fixed state.

    Abstract: A static random access memory (SRAM) includes a pair of p-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor (PMOS) transistors which serve as variable resistors for terminating bit lines and a control circuit for causing the PMOS transistors to have a low impedance level during read out and an intermediate impedance level during writing so that sudden d.c. current is suppressed and the voltage at the bit lines is prevented from being lowered. The variable resistor device can constitute a current mirror circuit along with a metal-insulator-semiconductor (MIS) transistor of the control circuit, so that it becomes possible to provide a stable control which is invulnerable to manufacturing tolerances.

    Abstract: A method is provided for attaching a water shut-off control valve to a predetermined position on a water distribution pipe, such as, for example, an installed service pipe, without stopping the passage of water therethrough wherein a T-pipe is attached to the damaged water distribution pipe, a first valve assembly is then mounted on the T-pipe assembly, a hole boring assembly is mounted on the free end of the first valve assembly in watertight relation therewith, and a hole then bored into the water distribution pipe and the hole is closed by the first valve member after which the boring assembly is withdrawn. A second valve assembly having an external housing is mounted to the free end of the first valve assembly by means of the external housing and the valve seat of the second valve housing then inserted through the opening and the water distribution pipe locked in place to shut off the flow of water through either distribution pipe and the external housing is thereafter removed.
