    Abstract: A position detection apparatus detecting a position of a mark similar to a template image from an input image has a calculation block. The calculation block includes phase difference calculation means and mark position detection means. The phase difference calculation means calculates a phase difference between a phase component of each frequency component when the template image is transformed into frequency components and a phase component for each frequency component when an input image is transformed into frequency components with a reference point being set at a predetermined position on the input image. The phase component difference calculated by the phase difference calculation means is transformed into a phase impulse response function, according to which the mark position detection means detects the position of the mark on the input image.

    Abstract: There are provided a method and an apparatus for acquiring an image for inspection of a flat panel display which can be advantageously used in inspecting any pixel defect of a flat panel display with high accuracy. An image of light and darkness of the flat panel display picked up by a solid state image pickup element is converted into digital image data, and any moiré component is extracted from the image data to detect a period of the moiré component. Pixel values of data collected at the period of moiré from a data series in X-axis direction or Y-axis direction of the image data are connected to find a plurality of smoothed curves from which defect components have been eliminated. Differences between pixel values positioned on that plurality of smoothed curves and the original image data are found to obtain defect component image data, and an average of the plurality of smoothed curves is found to obtain smoothed image data containing no moiré.

    Abstract: Devulcanized rubber in which sulfuric crosslinking bonds are cut and which contains carbon black particles having very small diameters. Vulcanized rubber of discarded products is devulcanized by heating it at a temperature of 180.degree. C. --350.degree. C. and applying a shearing pressure of 10-150 kg/cm.sup.2 thereto. Reclaimed rubber products are manufactured by vulcanizing and molding, into desired shapes, a material made of only devulcanized rubber in which sulfuric crosslinking bonds are cut and which contains carbon black particles having very small diameters or a material made of the devulcanized rubber mixed with virgin unvulcanized rubber.

The epiclorohydrin rubber contains organic phosphonium. The resulting molding layer does not require an adhesive agent.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a composite material made of a rubber and a clay mineral dispersed uniformly therein. The method proceeds exchanging inorganic ions of the clay mineral with organic onium ions to organize the clay mineral; mixing the organized clay mineral and a process oil and/or a plasticizer; and mixing the rubber material with the mixture of the organized clay mineral and the process oil and/or the plasticizer. Process oil and/or plasticizer are intercalated into the organized clay mineral. As a result, the interlayer distance of the clay mineral is enlarged. The most favorable mode of the present invention is for a barrier material against water, gas and the like and for a rubber material required for an improved mechanical property.

    Abstract: An ethylene propylene rubber blend containing an ethylene-.alpha.-olefin-diene copolymer as the rubber component of the blend. The ethylene-.alpha.-olefin-diene copolymer has a propylene content of about 43% to about 51% by weight, an iodine value of about 33 to about 39, a Mooney viscosity (ML.sub.1+4 100.degree. C.) of about 34 to about 44, and a molecular weight distribution (M.sub.W /M.sub.N) of about 5 or less. The ethylene propylene rubber blend can be used, for example, for formulating articles such as hoses, and in particular brake hoses. At least an inner tube provided inside the hose is preferably formed of the ethylene propylene rubber blend. The ethylene propylene rubber blends have a modulus of elasticity not significantly dependent upon temperature and are excellent in compression set and processability.
