The present disclosure relates to a battery coolant for an electric vehicle containing at least one kind of carbonates selected from the group consisting of propylene carbonate and butylene carbonate in an amount of 90 mass % or more with respect to a total mass of the coolant and water in an amount of 3 mass % or less with respect to the total mass of the coolant.

    Abstract: Before an electrode assembly is inserted into a quartz glass tube, a reinforcement bending process is applied to a metal foil. Even when a vibration load acts on the electrode assembly during the insertion of the electrode assembly into the quartz glass tube, the metal foil is not easily deformed, so that a rod electrode can be prevented from largely swinging together with the metal foil. Consequently, the position of a tip end portion of the rod electrode can be easily recognized by using a camera, whereby the degree of the insertion of the electrode assembly into the quartz glass tube can be correctly adjusted.

    Abstract: A discharge bulb including an arc tube 16 having a light-emitting tube portion 20a and shroud glass 18 surrounding the arc tube 16 in a tubular form. An inert gas and metal halides are sealed in a discharge space 24 inside the light-emitting tube portion 20a, which is mercury-free. Xenon gas is filled in an annular space 34 between the arc tube 16 and the shroud glass 18. Heat is restrained from being transmitted from the light-emitting tube portion 20a to the shroud glass 18 through the annular space 34. An increase in the heat loss and the temperature rise of the shroud glass 18 are restrained.

    Abstract: An arc tube and method for forming an arc tube in which an electrode assembly including a tungsten electrode and a molybdenum foil are joined together in a partially overlapped state and pinch sealed into a pinch seal portion of the arc tube body to suppress leakage due to peeling of the molybdenum foil and prolong the life period of the arc tube. An overlapped length L1 of a tungsten electrode and a molybdenum foil is set to be 2D≦L1≦0.8W with respect to the diameter D of the tungsten electrode and the width W of the molybdenum foil. In another embodiment, the distance L2 between the molybdenum foil and a discharge space is set to be B≦L2≦0.8A with respect to the width A and the thickness B of a pinch seal portion.

    Abstract: A pair of chucks, which grip end portions of a cylindrical glass tube blank, are moved by a chuck moving mechanism toward each other, so that softened glass in an intermediate portion of the cylindrical glass tube blank is gathered, thereby forming a shape that is suitable for blow molding a light emitting tube portion. In the approaching movement, the position of one chuck is detected by using a laser position detector, and a result of the detection is fed back to the chuck moving mechanism, so as to control the approach distances of the chucks. The laser position detector detects the position of the chuck itself. Therefore, even when the positional relationship between the chuck and the chuck moving mechanism is varied, or backlash or deformation occurs in the chuck moving mechanism, the correct position of the chuck still is detected irrespective of such variation, backlash or deformation.

The positioning ring includes elastic pieces 11 and weld pieces 12 formed on a fitting hole 8, through which the base is inserted, the elastic pieces being adapted to resiliently abut against an outer peripheral surface of the base, the weld pieces being adapted to be welded to the outer peripheral surface of the base. The weld pieces 12 are securely welded to the outer peripheral surface of the base after the elastic pieces are made to abut against the outer peripheral surface of the base.
