Patent number: 5759104Abstract: A connector includes a housing, and a flange portion which is formed by extending one main surface of the housing in a direction that a first circuit board is inserted. An adapter includes a casing having an insertion port into which a cartridge for first game machine can be inserted, and having a shape capable of being inserted into an insertion port of a second game machine. An adapter circuit board is contained in the casing, and includes a data conversion circuit which converts first game machine data stored in the cartridge for first game machine into data capable of being utilized in the second game machine.Type: GrantFiled: January 24, 1995Date of Patent: June 2, 1998Assignee: Nintendo Co., Ltd.Inventors: Yutaka Shirae, Masayuki Yukawa, Masahiko Ota

Patent number: 5537389Abstract: Scratches on the recording disk caused by sliding of a disk cartridge shutter is prevented by slidably inserting first and second shutters between a tray and a case on the opposite side to a recording disk accommodating portion of the tray. The first shutter simultaneously opens and closes a case side driving shaft insert hole, a case side head insert hole, a tray side driving shaft insert hole, and a tray side head insert hole. The second shutter opens and closes a terminal hole. The second shutter is opened independently of the first shutter and is held in a position so that the case side driving shaft insert hole, the case side head insert hole, the tray side driving shaft insert hole, and the tray side head insert hole are not closed. Closing the first shutter, however, causes the second shutter to also close.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1993Date of Patent: July 16, 1996Assignees: Hitachi Maxwell, Ltd., Nintendo Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tadahiro Kuwa, Makoto Miura, Tamotsu Iida, Yoshitane Tsuburaya, Yoshitake Kato, Masanori Uematsu, Masayuki Yukawa, Junji Takamoto, Masahiko Ota

Patent number: 4922420Abstract: A game software service system is connected to a monitor to display an image for game. A CPU and a PPU which cooperates with the CPU are accommodated within a housing. A plurality of storage mediums which respectively store game programs are attached to the housing in an attachable/detachable manner. The respective storage mediums are commonly connected to an address bus and a data bus of the CPU and the PPU, and assigned with a common address space. A first controller is used for playing a game. Any one of the storage mediums is selected by operation of a second controller. When a menu showing a plurality of game names is displayed on the monitor, accesses from the CPU and the PPU to a selected storage medium are enabled in response to the operation of the second controller. The CPU and the PPU execute a program of the selected storage medium to display the image for game on the monitor.Type: GrantFiled: July 23, 1987Date of Patent: May 1, 1990Assignee: Nintendo Company LimitedInventors: Katsuya Nakagawa, Kunihiro Tanaka, Masayuki Yukawa, Masaki Nomura

Patent number: 4865321Abstract: A cartridge for a gaming machine includes a case having tapered surface formed along a side edge of the rear face thereof which cooperates with a protrusion in the cartridge receiving tray in the gaming machine main unit to prevent an inverted insertion of the cartridge into the machine. A character ROM, a first semiconductor memory storing a program for determining authenticity of the cartridge and a first microcomputer for executing that program are mounted on a printed circuit board accommodated in the case. The gaming machine includes a picture processing unit generating an image signal based on data from the character ROM, a second semiconductor memory which stores the same program for determining authenticity of the cartridge as the program in the first semiconductor memory, and a second microcomputer identical to the first microcomputer for executing the program stored in the second semiconductor memory. The second microcomputer determines authenticity of the loaded or inserted cartridge.Type: GrantFiled: November 27, 1987Date of Patent: September 12, 1989Assignee: Nintendo Company LimitedInventors: Katsuya Nakagawa, Masayuki Yukawa

Patent number: 4763300Abstract: A front loading apparatus typically installed in a data processing machine for receiving a memory cartridge. The apparatus includes a frame disposed within the machine, and a tray pivotally mounted to the frame for rotation between a loading and an operating position. It also includes a spring biasing the tray toward the loading position and a releasable lock for retaining it in the operating position. A low insertion force edge connector is mounted to the frame for electrically interconnecting a printed circuit board in the cartridge with a second printed circuit board mounted in the machine.Type: GrantFiled: August 27, 1986Date of Patent: August 9, 1988Assignee: Nintendo Co., Ltd.Inventor: Masayuki Yukawa
