  • Patent number: 8640430
Abstract: Method and assembly for evacuating a package (2), such as a vacuum package filled with a product such as nuts. The package is at least partially made of packaging film (6). The method employs a suction device (4) provided with a suction opening, for evacuating the package through an aperture (12) in the packaging film. The package is provided with a substantially plate-shaped, rigid element (8), one main surface of which substantially lying in contact “with the inner side of the packaging film, wherein the aperture in the packaging film is provided at the location of the substantially rigid element. The method further includes the sealing abutment of the suction opening against an outer side of the package, at a location where the substantially rigid element lies in contact with the inner side of the packaging film, in such a way that the aperture is in fluid connection with the suction opening.

  • Patent number: 6186051
Abstract: A system for preparing a consumable beverage, wherein a liquid and a granular material are brought together to produce the beverage. The system includes at least one vacuum pack enclosing a beverage making granular material therein. The free end of the pack defines a longitudinal narrow gap, and a closing seam adjacent the free end that retains the granular material within the vacuum pack. A holder is configured to receive and fully enclose the vacuum pack therein. A liquid dispensing mechanism is provided for dispensing a liquid. A needle-shaped tube connects to the liquid dispensing mechanism and includes a free end for piercing the vacuum pack and introducing the liquid into the vacuum pack. The holder includes an opening at one end to allow the end of the vacuum pack to extend below the holder when the vacuum pack is placed within the holder, and the holder further includes a movable sidewall positioned to engage the opposite end of the vacuum pack.

  • Patent number: 5678387
Abstract: Method and apparatus for evacuating a vacuum package made from a thin-walled and flexible packaging material and filled with granular material. An open end of a filled package is folded in such a manner that a narrow gap is formed which constitutes an open communication between an interior and an exterior of the package. At least a part of the package is placed in a vacuum space and vacuumized for removing gasses from the package through the gap. Upon evacuation the package is sealed airtightly. Further, on at least a part of the packaging material defining the gap a force is exerted which reduces the gap width, so that the gap constitutes a filter for the granular material, whereby the granular material is retained inside the package during the evacuation of the package.
