  • Patent number: 11945449
Abstract: An automated method of controlling a speed of a vehicle includes identifying parameters of a driving instance of the vehicle; identifying a predetermined profile that is applicable to the driving instance based on the identified parameters; identifying a predetermined speed policy applicable to the driving instance based on the identified profile; and implementing the identified speed policy during the driving instance. The method may be repeated during the driving instance, whereby the speed policy that is implemented is automatically updated when one or more changes in the identified parameters cause a different predetermined speed policy to be identified. Parameter may include driver parameters (e.g., driver age and driver experience); vehicle parameters (e.g., vehicle age, mileage, and tire wear) tire maintenance information); behavior parameters (e.g., speed, acceleration, hard braking of the vehicle, following distance, swerving, and cornering); and circumstance parameters (e.g.

  • Publication number: 20240034420
Abstract: A strut member to be secured to the floor structure includes a top skirt-contacting portion for the aerodynamic skirt panel to be secured thereto, a lower skirt-contacting portion for the aerodynamic skirt panel to be secured thereto distant from the top skirt-contact portion, and a strut portion connecting the top skirt-contact portion to the lower skirt-contacting portion. The strut member provides a clearance in which the skirt panel is free of contact with the strut member between the top skirt-contact portion and the lower skirt-contacting portion. The strut portion is configured to resiliently buckle between a buckled position upon the skirt panel undergoing a force exceeding a threshold value toward the strut member and an original position when no force is applied and when the skirt panel is undergoing a force that is less than the threshold value.

  • Publication number: 20230402808
Abstract: An active LMA optical fiber for mitigating Transverse Mode Instability effects is provided. The core of the fiber includes a center core region having one or more rare-earth center dopants and one or more center co-dopants, and a peripheral core region free of rare-earth dopants and having one or more peripheral dopants. The radial refractive-index profile of the core is generally continuous across a boundary between the center core region and the peripheral core region. The selection and the concentrations and distributions of the rare-earth center dopants, the center co-dopants and the peripheral dopants are such that the temperature coefficient is lower in the peripheral core region than in the center core region.

  • Publication number: 20230402809
Abstract: An optical fiber assembly for mitigating stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) is disclosed that includes an optical fiber and a winding support configured to hold the fiber in a winding arrangement. The fiber includes a core and one or more claddings surrounding the core. The one or more claddings includes an inner doped region contiguous to the core and having a composition including a glass material doped with an acoustic-velocity-lowering and refractive-index-raising dopant and an acoustic-velocity-lowering and refractive-index-lowering dopant. The composition is selected to provide the fiber with an acoustic velocity profile in which the velocity within the inner doped region is equal to or less by at most 0.5% than that within the core. The acoustic velocity profile and the winding arrangement provide SBS mitigation by reducing a mode overlap between an optical mode guided in the core and acoustic modes including guided and leaky acoustic modes.

  • Patent number: 10915607
Abstract: A method for providing a licence includes: a step a) wherein a server receives a request including an identifier of a multimedia content and an identifier of a terminal or of a user. The server computes the licence including at least one access data needed by the terminal to access the multimedia content. Before step a), there is a step e) for obtaining a first recommendation list for the user and from the list, obtaining one multimedia content identifier. For each automatically selected identifier, the method includes pre-computing at least one access data, and in a step b), searching for the identifier of the multimedia content received in step a) from among the identifiers automatically selected in the step e). In the event of success, the method includes selecting the pre-computed access data corresponding to the identifier, and, in the event of failure, generating the access data.

Abstract: A vehicle comprises an intelligent speed adaptor (ISA) system. The ISA system is configurable to limit the allowed speed of the vehicle to a speed determined based at least in part on a currently allowed speed for a speed zone applicable to a current location of the vehicle; and to limit the allowed speed of the vehicle to a nominal speed. The nominal speed results in the effective disengagement and nonoperation of the accelerator of the vehicle. The nominal speed may be 1 kilometer per hour, 1 mile per hour. The nominal speed also may correspond to a speed that results from idling of the engine.
