  • Patent number: 8040874
Abstract: A method, a system, a server, and a computer program product are provided for Multimedia Capability discovery of different user terminals. Unnecessary use of the radio interface is avoided based on a network storage, which is accessible without registration to find out about the calling as well as the called user's multimedia capabilities during a voice call. If there is a positive capability discovery result out of this for both users, the system sends a message to each of the user terminals that they should notify the users, e.g., by displaying an icon above a soft button. There is no need for establishing a packet switched session, which uses a lot of radio interface signalling, until the Multimedia Service capability of both subscribers and their user terminals is investigated and responded to both user terminals and their users.

  • Publication number: 20110150203
Abstract: A method and arrangement for providing a ring-back presentation to a calling terminal after receiving a call setup request from the calling terminal (A) for a first communication session (308) with a called terminal (B). A second packet-based communication session (310) is established with the calling terminal, independent of the first session, and pre-defined media content is provided as said ring-back presentation (312) to the calling terminal over the second session. Thereby, ring-back presentations to waiting callers can be selected from a great range of media types, including visual media. A calling user can also control the playout or display of the ring-back presentation irrespective of when the call is answered.

  • Publication number: 20110134913
Abstract: The invention includes a method of providing media data of a SIP-based Auxiliary Service from an Auxiliary Application Server, AS, to a recipient peer of an established communication exchange between peers. The method includes issuing an invocation to the Auxiliary AS, the invocation including an indication of the recipient peer of the Auxiliary Service. The Auxiliary Service media data is prepared and sent to the recipient together with a correlation ID identifying the established communication exchange, and an Application Classmark identifying the auxiliary service.

  • Publication number: 20110004518
Abstract: Personalized advertisements may be provided from a service node to a user, parallel to executing a request from the user device. At the service node, advertisement information may be selected, according to predefined advertisement rules and the applications which are available at the user device, and attached to a response message, sent to the user device in response to the received request. At the user device, the advertisement information is retrieved, structured and stored. A change of state of an application of the user device will initiate an interrogation of the advertisement information, which will result in performing a presentation of an advertisement on the user information, in case such instructions exists. An advertising method, a user device and a service node adapted to execute the suggested method are described.

  • Patent number: 7778641
Abstract: A data mechanism is described for assisting third generational mobile radio systems to handoff mobile radio connection to neighboring cells when the neighboring cells are of a foreign generational type. The data mechanism includes a container in the data map which is a generic structure, not particular to any generational system. The generic structure can be content-specific to any of many different generational communications protocols.

  • Publication number: 20100110978
Abstract: A method and arrangement in a telecommunication system for facilitating communications between a first terminal A configured to use a first session model and a second terminal B configured to use a second session model for media transportation. The first terminal A initiates a service capability check and in response, receives capability features of the second terminal B. Upon determining that the second terminal B uses the second session model, the first terminal A is reconfigured to use the second session model.

  • Publication number: 20090010247
Abstract: A method and arrangement for enabling multimedia during an ongoing circuit-switched call between a first mobile terminal and a second terminal, wherein the first terminal uses a first access having constraints by not admitting simultaneous packet-switched and circuit-switched communication. A change of connection is detected from the first access to a second access having no such constraints by admitting simultaneous packet-switched and circuit-switched communication. A capability query is then sent to the second terminal in response to said detection. When the requested capabilities are received from the second terminal, possible multimedia applications and/or services are indicated to the user according to the received capabilities.

  • Publication number: 20080304438
Abstract: A method and apparatus for enabling communication of IP multimedia content to a called user during a circuit-switched call between a calling terminal (A) having called a primary communication unit (B1), when the call has been forwarded to a secondary communication unit (B2). The calling terminal receives a connected number during a call set-up procedure, e.g. by subscribing to a called line presentation (COLP) service. The calling terminal stores the received connected number and determines multimedia capabilities of the secondary communication unit based on the connected number. Available multimedia options can then be determined based on the multimedia capabilities of the secondary communication unit.

  • Patent number: 7395063
Abstract: Method and device, respectively, for determining which one of the owners of a shared radio network that a visiting mobile terminal (MT), which MT is not subscribed to any of the owners of said shared radio network, is going to be connected to, by deriving information from the visiting MT concerning its identity. The method and device, respectively, is characterized in that said information is used in said shared radio network for determining which one of said owners said visiting MT is going to be connected to.

  • Publication number: 20070297390
Abstract: A method and arrangement for controlling a multimedia communication session between a first terminal and a second terminal, the session being divided into a circuit-switched part and a packet-switched part. A notification on an event occurring in one of said circuit-switched and packet-switched parts is received in a common session server. The session server then reports to the other part of the communication session about said event, such that said other part can be controlled in response to said event.

  • Publication number: 20070097879
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method, a system and a server for automatically discovering the common Multimedia Service Capability, and computer program. This solution avoid unnecessary use of the radio interface and is based on making use of the circuit switched network, e.g. the Intelligent network IN, as trigger to the packet switched network to find out about the calling as well as the called user's multimedia capabilities during a voice call. If there is a positive capability discovery result out of this for both users, the network will send a message to each of the two mobile phones that they should notify the users e.g. by displaying an icon above a soft button. It can be that the phone displays a shared multimedia-Image icon, if this was the only commonly supported capability of both users, up to a whole range of more or less complicated SMM services.

  • Publication number: 20060089966
Abstract: A method of maintaining cached Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) terminal capability information at an end user terminal of a telecommunication system, for one or more other end user terminals. The method comprises predefining one or more signalling message properties for signalling messages to be received from peer terminals, and recording the properties at said end user terminal, examining incoming signalling messages received from peer terminals to determine whether or not they possess a predefined property, and if an incoming signalling message does possess a predefined property, reacting by refreshing the cached capability information for the sending terminal.

  • Patent number: 6724748
Abstract: A method and system are disclosed for creating an interface between a packet-switched network and an IN, which is based on an interface between an associated circuit-switched network and an IN/CAMEL service. Meanwhile, the CAMEL application can also provide IN services to mobile subscribers while they are roaming in other networks (e.g., international roaming).

  • Patent number: 5946630
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transferring a short message between an originating mobile station and the short message service center permanently associated with the destination mobile station is disclosed. The originating mobile station sends the short message (including the address of the destination mobile station) to the mobile network over an air interface. The mobile network transfers the short message internally between switching nodes. One of the switching nodes interrogates a subscriber database, and passes the mobile station's address to the database, and passes the information showing that this is a short message submitted from a mobile station. The database checks to determine if the destination mobile station is short message service capable. If not, the short message is terminated. Otherwise, the database returns the address of the short message service center permanently associated with the destination mobile station.

  • Patent number: 5878397
Abstract: A method and apparatus for transporting a short message between a subscriber terminal and a digital telecommunications system is disclosed. A short message including user information and control data is created at the subscriber terminal. The short message user information is inserted into a user information field in a call setup message, in accordance with a standard call control protocol. A predetermined code is inserted into a locking shift field in the call setup message, which creates a short message control data field in the call setup message. The short message control data is inserted into the short message control data field in the call setup message, and the call setup message is transported between the subscriber terminal and the system. Also, a method and apparatus for transporting the short message between the digital telecommunications system and a short message service center is disclosed.
