Publication number: 20200281097Abstract: An electronic device having a battery assembly is disclosed. Unlike traditional battery assemblies that include rectilinear electrodes with two sides of equal length, the battery assemblies described herein may include electrodes having a shape/configuration resembling an L-shape electrode used to form chemical reactions in order to generate electrical energy. However, other shapes/configurations are possible. The shape/configuration of the housing of the battery assembly confirms to the shape/configuration of the electrodes. Further, in order to accommodate an internal component (such as a circuit board assembly), the shape of the battery assembly provides additional space in the electronic device. In order to form the electrodes, the electrodes may undergo a die cutting operation. Also, the housing may include a channel, or reduced dimension, that accommodates a flexible circuit in the electronic device that passes over the battery assembly at the channel.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 15, 2020Publication date: September 3, 2020Inventors: David A. PAKULA, Daniel W. JARVIS, Gregory N. STEPHENS, Ian A. SPRAGGS, James A. BERTIN, Eric M. BENNETT, Simon C. HELMORE, Melissa A. WAH, Matthew D. HILL, Jon F. HOUSOUR, Douglas G. FOURNIER, Christopher S. Publication number: 20200181941Abstract: A lead screw latch mechanism is provided and includes a gate check rotatable to assume locked and unlocked positions, a housing defining lock and unlock grooves and a key container. The key container includes a boss and is biased away from the gate check and selectively movable toward the gate check through the housing with the gate check assuming the locked position whereby the boss, having been received in the lock groove, is prevented from exiting the lock groove and the unlocked position whereby the boss, having been received in the lock groove, is permitted to exit the lock groove. The lead screw latch mechanism further includes an elastic assembly which, with the boss exited from the lock groove, drives key container rotation toward a rotational position at which the boss is aligned with the unlock groove.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 1, 2018Publication date: June 11, 2020Inventor: Matthew S. Patent number: 10524372Abstract: An enclosure is formed by coupling an outer cover to a back enclosure piece. The enclosure defines an interior volume for receiving components of an electronic device. The back enclosure piece is formed from a metal frame component and a non-metal outer cover. A metal layer overlaps the metal frame component and the outer cover within the interior volume. The metal layer has a thickness that provides support and shatter resistance to the non-metal outer cover. The metal layer can form an inductor of a wireless power transfer circuit.Type: GrantFiled: March 21, 2019Date of Patent: December 31, 2019Assignee: Apple Inc.Inventors: James A. Wright, Guangtao Zhang, Raymund W. M. Kwok, Karl Ruben F. Larsson, Christopher S. Graham, Matthew D. Hill, Abhijeet Misra

Publication number: 20190278746Abstract: Systems, methods, and non-transitory computer readable media for storing and processing metadata corresponding to files are presented. The system comprises first, second, and third computing nodes. The computing nodes comprise a plurality of slices of a metadata database that is separate and independent from file storage, and each slice is configured to store metadata. The computing nodes further comprise a slice route table that indicates primary and secondary locations of each unique slice in the plurality of slices. The slice route table comprises a plurality of entries, each of which comprise a slice number corresponding to a slice in the plurality of slices of the metadata database, a primary computing node number corresponding to a primary computing node that comprises the slice and corresponds to the primary location, and a secondary computing node number corresponding to a secondary computing node that comprises the slice and corresponds to the secondary location.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 7, 2019Publication date: September 12, 2019Inventors: Mark U.
